Lin-Manuel Miranda Says He Doesn't Want To Make an ‘Encanto’ Sequel Just Yet & Reveals The Reason Why

An Encanto sequel might be in the back of Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s mind, but it won’t be happening just yet.

In a new interview, the 42-year-old entertainer, who created the music for the movie, revealed that he has something else planned for Encanto before he even starts working on a sequel movie.

It seems that Lin‘s thoughts are actually on a theme park ride!

“It was funny because everyone’s like, ‘Will there be a sequel? Will there be a show?’ And I said, ‘I want a ride before I want any of that,” he told Insider.

Lin added that plans are actually underway, too.

“The Imagineers are on it,” he added. “I don’t know what they do or where they live, but I know they’re on it.”

In a previous interview, Lin has shared his thoughts on what he’d like for the ride, and revealed that he has spoken to Disney CEO Bob Chapek about it.

“I talked to him and said, ‘I know there’s a world in which this casita lives in a theme park and we get to actually walk through it in real life,’” he shared, saying that fans could “go in and out of this casita and see those characters and see the house respond because that’s something Disney can do that no one else can do.”

Encanto is out on Blu-ray now and you can even stream it on Disney+!
