Clive Davis Opens Up About Whitney Houston's Tragic Death Following 'Valiant Attempt' at Rehabilitation

Clive Davis was shocked when he learned that Whitney Houston had tragically died in 2012.

The “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” icon passed the day that she was supposed to attend Clive‘s Grammy party following lengthy struggles with addiction.

In a new interview, the music mogul opened up about why the news left him shocked and the last time that he saw Whitney before her death.

Clive told Page Six that the star “was making a valiant attempt” to get clean and “rehabilitate herself.”

“I was with her 48 hours before her death,” he told the outlet.

“She was showing me what she had done in rehab,” he recalled. “How she had given up smoking, how she had cleared her throat of nicotine. And she was wanting to start going in the studio….I never would have thought 48 hours before her death, that she would pass, that there would be that horrendous, premature end to her life.”

Clive confirmed another rumor about Whitney and one of her previous relationships.
