YouTube Star Keenan Cahill Has Passed Away at 27

Keenan Cahill, who became an internet sensation for his lip-syncing videos that he posted to YouTube, has sadly died at the age of 27.

A family spokesperson has confirmed to WGN that Keenan passed away on Thursday (December 29) and while a cause of death has not yet been revealed, he recently shared a health update on social media.

Keenan posted on Instagram on December 15 that he was about to have open heart surgery.

It’s not clear why Keenan was having surgery, but it was likely due to his Maroteaux–Lamy syndrome.

Medline Plus says that Maroteaux–Lamy syndrome “is a progressive condition that causes many tissues and organs to enlarge, become inflamed or scarred, and eventually waste away (atrophy). Skeletal abnormalities are also common in this condition. The rate at which symptoms worsen varies among affected individuals.”

Heart disease is listed as a major cause of death for people with the syndrome.
