Here's Why Kate Hudson's Visit to Lea Michele in 'Funny Girl' Is So Meta for 'Glee' Fans

Kate Hudson went to see Lea Michele in Funny Girl last week and Glee fans totally understand how meta this is!

If you didn’t know, Kate was a recurring guest star in season four of Glee and she played a dance teacher at New York Academy of Dramatic Arts, where Lea‘s character Rachel went to college.

Throughout the season, Kate‘s character Cassandra July was constantly picking on Rachel and telling her that she didn’t have the chops to make it to Broadway. By the end of the season, Rachel had a callback for Funny Girl, but the audition interfered with her final for Cassandra’s class.

Cassandra set up a difficult dance exam for Rachel ahead of the callback and when Rachel showed up, she discovered that the exam was actually a party to congratulate her on the callback. Cassandra revealed to Rachel that all of her harassment was an effort to push her into bettering herself as a performer.

On Glee, Lea‘s character Rachel Berry ended up playing Fanny Brice in Funny Girl and now she’s playing the iconic role in real life.

Kate visited the show last week and Lea shared a photo of them after the show. She captioned the pic, “Kate, you are a true angel on this earth. So special having you at @funnygirlbwy last night! Love you dearly. ❤️”
