The 62-year-old actor took the stage alongside Andie MacDowell to announce the winner for Best Production Design during the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (March 12) in Hollywood, Calif.

While hyping up the importance of “using a good moisturizer” like Andie does, he noted that she was “still stunning.” In comparison, he was “basically a scrotum.”

The joke drew some groans from attendees in the audience, and viewers at home took to social media with some thoughts after that one.

Another said it was “the Hugh Grant we came to see.”

Others called out an awkward interview he had on the red carpet with Ashely Graham, noting that the model “might have a few other choice descriptions for him.”

“Hugh Grant wins everyone back by calling his face a scrotum in front of 15 million people,” another wrote, seemingly in reference to the bad interview.
