Patty Jenkins Is Tired Pushing For Oscars Gender Parity: 'I Give Up'

Patty Jenkins is over it.

The 51-year-old director, best known for Wonder Woman, says she’s giving up on women directors getting any kind of recognition for their work at the Oscars.

“I give up, I give up,” she shared with Variety about trying to fight for recognition.

Patty added, “I say that even with all of their push to have diversity. The numbers are just hugely imbalanced of who votes for these things. I sort of just stopped paying attention to it.”

“It’s still going to take a long ways to go. It’s going to take a lot more to really see truly more diverse awards. I really appreciate the efforts that they’re making but we have a long way to go,” she shared.

For the 2023 Oscars, Till‘s Chinonye Chukwu, Women Talking‘s Sarah Polley and The Woman King‘s Gina Prince-Bythewood, were all shut out of the category.
