Superman: Legacy will be the first big movie under his and Peter Safran‘s DC Studios.

The project is slated to arrive in theaters on July 11, 2025.

“It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks that kindness is old-fashioned,” Peter Safran told reporters in late January.

Henry Cavill, who played the superhero in Man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), will not be returning for the role. Further casting has not yet been announced.

The title is among nearly a dozen new TV shows and movies announced by DC Studios this year.
