Paul Reubens Dead at 70, 'Pee-Wee Herman' Star's Cause of Death Revealed to Be Cancer

Paul Reubens, who was best known for his work playing the character Pee-wee Herman in various movies and TV shows, has died at the age of 70.

His estate posted the update on Instagram, sharing that he passed on Sunday night (July 30) after privately battling cancer for years.

“Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness,” Reubens’ estate shared on Facebook. “Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit. A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit.”

He was recently seen as Pee-wee on his Netflix show back in 2016.
