Jessica Simpson Talks Moving to Nashville & Her Exciting Return to Music

Jessica Simpson just revealed why she and her family moved from Hollywood to Nashville for the summer!

The 43-year-old singer opened up about the big decision during an interview with E!. She explained that she’s much happier in Nashville, and it’s noticeable.

“Being in Nashville, even my kids are like, ‘You laugh the whole time. You’re so happy,’” Jessica said at a PetSafe event in Los Angeles for National Dog Day. “It’s because I’m not on guard. I’m with a lot of like-minded people. It’s not about the celebrities—it’s really about the music and the heart and the conversation.”

She called the whole ordeal “a hilarious experience.” Jessica noted, “I used thumb tacks to hang these $40 curtains up so I wouldn’t wake up with the sun. I put together a TV with a butter knife. I was looking for a screwdriver, but I went to the wrong place. I went to Walgreens, I got lip gloss instead.”

The move comes in the midst of her comeback to music after taking over a decade off.

“I’m not nervous at all, but if you were to ask me two years ago when I was talking about coming back to music, I was frightened,” she told E!. “But now, I know exactly what I want.”

Jessica added, “I’m building my own platform. I’m doing it for the first time—the way I would—without a label telling me I need to do this song or use this producer. It’s all me.”

The singer emphasized that she’s been planning her return to music for 12 years now and has “Pinterest boards upon Pinterest boards” with music video ideas.

She recently teased her new music in a different interview. Jessica shared that she’s going back to her “southern roots” and said, “I finally feel connected enough to my purpose in music, and I know exactly what it is I want to do. It’s very exciting.”
