Van Toffler was the president of MTV in 2003. He told Rolling Stone that Jennifer Lopez was initially supposed to share the stage with Madonna and Britney. The outlet noted that the “Vogue” pop icon considered them to be “the best young dancers around.”

Jennifer had to back out, leading to Christina being brought in. Why? She had to film her new movie Shall We Dance? and was unable to get the time off.

The hitmaker opened up about the missed opportunity earlier this year.

Rolling Stone was unable to confirm this one, but earlier this year Pink reported that she was at one point invited to join the performance.

“I think we all were [invited],” she said during a radio interview, via Billboard. “I think Madonna wanted to kiss all of us. I was in Costa Rica at the time, having all kinds of fun with my boyfriend Carey Hart.”
