Finn Wolfhard Addresses Not Knowing What He Was Doing Filming 'Stranger Things,' Attempted Robbery On a Movie Set & 'Twilight' Filming by His House
On an attempted robbery while directing Night Shifts:
“In real life, while we were shooting the robbery scene, a guy came in with like a fake, he like welded a fake gun together… he came in just kind of brandishing this fake gun and Artoun [Nazareth], the guy who is playing the burglar, turned around with his fake gun and they were just pointing fake guns at each other like a standoff. And the guy left…I was like ‘cool’ and everyone was like ‘no!’…It was nuts…”
On developing as an actor during Stranger Things:
“I don’t watch the early Stranger Things stuff really often but I’ve seen little clips and stuff, and I’m like man I didn’t know what I was doing back then. In a lot of ways, I think that really helped me…as you get older you get so much more kind of like self-obsessed. You get a little more in your head…and I feel like I learned so much more obviously since then, but I wish I had a little bit of that naivete.”
On growing up in Vancouver, and early exposure to the industry:
“I remember Twilight would come to Vancouver every year because they would film a new movie, and I remember them shooting by my house…so it definitely had an impact…like getting an audition as a kid was very tangible because they would shoot so many commercials…”
On the GOAT school field trip:
“Science World is incredible…there’s a gold mining place called Britannia Mines…”
On his all-time favorite Canadian athlete:
“[Roberto] Luongo was like such a huge figure for us growing up. He’s so synonymous with Vancouver cause of his time with the Canucks and that’s kind of who I always think of when I think of Vancouver athletes.”
