9 Actors Up for Edward in 'Twilight' Before Robert Pattinson (Someone Called the Role 'Stupid')

“I remember thinking, ‘This is stupid! I don’t even know why I am on this audition. This is such a YA movie,’” Scott Eastwood admitted about his audition to play Edward during a conversation with Variety. “I don’t think I really tried all that hard, and it was just like, I’m going to just do it and go through the motions. Then the movie turns into seven movies and Robert Pattinson has made a quadrillion dollars.”

He continued, joking, “Then I was thinking, ‘Ya may have wanted to try maybe just a little bit.’”

“I tested for Edward Cullen. I don’t know how close I was. I read for Catherine Hardwicke, but who knows,” Dave Franco told MTV back in 2012. “I mean, maybe there were still hundreds of kids left reading for Catherine Hardwicke.”

He laughingly said that he didn’t have a shot to play the character, adding, “At this point, I still don’t know what I’m doing. At that point I was in over my head.”
