He passed away at his home in Studio City after a brief illness on December 19, according to his family.

Dick was responsible for directing installments of The Merv Griffin Show, Wheel of Fortune and his brother’s The Tonight Show.

He helmed episodes featuring guest hosts like Groucho Marx and Florence Henderson, and eventually left The Tonight Show and directed an ABC variety show hosted by Don Rickles. He also did Get Smart and The Sammy Davis Jr. Show, as well as commercials and pilots.

His Emmys came for his work on The Merv Griffin Show, as well as Wheel of Fortune before he retired in 1999.

Our thoughts are with Dick Carson‘s loved ones at this difficult time.

We have sadly lost several stars already in 2022.
