Amanda Seales Addresses Alleged Issa Rae Feud

Amanda Seales is opening up about where things stand with Issa Rae.

The 42-year-old Insecure alum, who co-starred with the 39-year-old star, addressed the rumored feud between the two while appearing on the Club Shay Shay podcast.

“I’ve never talked about this publicly because it has always been incredibly important to me to protect Issa. Because I know that Issa is doing something within this business that so few people get to do,” she began.

“I’m not interested in getting a $100 million production deal. That’s not a life that I want for myself. But I know that her role is very important.”

Amanda Seales Reveals the Real Reason She Left 'The Real'

The 39-year-old actress explained her decision to leave the show after six months in a candid conversation with comedian Godfrey on Instagram Live.

“I left The Real because it was breaking my spirit…I was being asked to not talk about certain things that felt like a betrayal to my people…and then on top of that, I didn’t want to be somewhere that I felt like people weren’t being honest with me and where people felt scared of me because of my Black woman-ess,” she said.

She spoke about one of her experiences after a white female producer was assigned to help her put together a segment called “Smart, Funny and Black.”

“I did a Smart, Funny and Black game on The Real and I was so excited to get to play my Smart, Funny and Black game on The Real…they assigned it to the one white woman producer, but we have three Black women producers and one Black guy producer and I was like ‘Why are you producing this?’ and she was like, ‘So and so assigned it to me,’ and I said, ‘But why would you be producing this? You’re a white woman. You don’t understand what we’re going to be talking about.’”

“I couldn’t stay in a place like that,” she went on to say.

'The Real's Amanda Seales Announces She's Leaving The Show After Just Six Months

Amanda Seales has announced that she’ll be leaving The Real after just six months on the daytime talk show.

The 38-year-old comedian revealed the news during an Instagram Live on Tuesday (June 2).

“My contract is up at The Real, and I didn’t renew it,” Amanda said, adding that she didn’t feel like she could express herself properly as a black woman on the show.

“It doesn’t feel good to my soul to be at a place where I can not speak to my people the way they need to be spoken to,” she added. “And where the people that are speaking to me in despairing ways are not being handled.”

Amanda went on, “I’m not at a space where, as a full black woman, I can have my voice and my co-workers also have their voices, and where the people at the top are not respecting the necessity for black voices to be at the top, too.”

In an additional Live the next day, Amanda insisted that her leaving wasn’t because of any issues with her co-hosts Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, Tamera Mowry-Housley and Adrienne Houghton.

“Do not try to create some false dissention between me and the co-hosts of The Real. Y’all so f***ing corny. There is a whole pandemic and an uprising going on, and you still can’t find s*** else to do but try and create some kind of conflict that doesn’t exist?” she said. “I did not unfollow Loni Love. I haven’t unfollowed anybody.”

“What ya’ll don’t understand is grown women do grown women business. That’s what y’all don’t understand, and what I gotta do with my business ain’t got nothing to do with them sisters.”
