Anderson .Paak: Best New Artist of Grammys 2017 Countdown!

Our Best New Artist of the 2017 Grammy Awards countdown comes to an end with the multi-talented Anderson .Paak!

Like most of his fellow nominees, the 31-year-old singer-songwriter-rapper-producer has been curating a space for himself in the music world for quite some time. While serving as a drummer for American Idol contestant Haley Reinhart in 2012, Anderson independently released his first album, O.B.E. Vol. 1, under the moniker Breezy Lovejoy.

It wasn’t until 2014 where he went on to release Venice in 2014, under his current stage name. Anderson followed up with Malibu in 2016, his most successful and critically acclaimed album to date, featuring the singles: “The Season / Carry Me,” “Am I Wrong” feat. Schoolboy Q, “Room in Here” feat. Sonyae Elise and The Game, and “Come Down“.

Along with his Best New Artist nom, Anderson is up for Best Urban Contemporary Album for Malibu alongside Beyoncé, Rihanna, KING and Gallant.

Anderson is set to perform with fellow Best New Artist nominee Maren Morris and Alicia Keys at the big show on Sunday (February 12) on CBS. Be sure to tune in – we’ll be live-blogging the entire show as well!

Maren Morris: Best New Artist of Grammys 2017 Countdown!

Our 2017 Grammys Best New Artist nominees countdown continues today with Maren Morris – another female country star!

The 26-yer-old Texas-born singer-songwriter has independently been releasing music since 2012, but it wasn’t until she self-released five songs as a self-titled EP, Maren Morris, on Spotify in 2015 where she attracted the attention of her now record label Columbia Nashville, who re-released the 5-song EP on November 6, 2015, with “My Church” as the lead single.

My Church” later went on to hit #1 on the Billboard Country Digital Songs chart and reached Top 5 on the US Hot Country chart, perfectly paving the way for the release of her major label debut LP, Hero, which also includes “80s Mercedes.”

Aside from her own musical project, Maren has written songs for Nashville and some of music’s biggest names, including Kelly Clarkson, Tim McGraw and Jessie James Decker.

Maren is currently dating fellow country singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd.

We’ll be highlighting all the Best New Artist nominees before they go head-to-head at the big show on Sunday (February 12) on CBS. Be sure to tune in – JustJared.com we’ll be live-blogging the entire show as well!

Chance the Rapper: Best New Artist of Grammys 2017 Countdown!

With just one day left until the 2017 Grammy Awards, we are continuing our countdown of the Best New Artist nominees and up next is Chance the Rapper!

The 23-year-old Chicago-born rapping superstar is not necessarily the newest of the bunch, he’s been releasing mixtapes since 2012 and is most notably known for keeping his music free. And by “free,” Chance means streaming-only.

Chance‘s latest mixtape Coloring Book was released exclusively on Apple Music on May 13, before being made available to other streaming services on May 27. Coloring Book debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, becoming the first streaming-exclusive set to reach the list and the first streaming-only album to ever receive a Grammy nomination.

Chance is just now being recognized for his work due to the Grammys recent change to make recordings released solely through streaming services eligible to enter the award process.

Along with Best New Artist, Chance is nominated for seven more awards, including Bet Rap Performance for “No Problem” (with Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz), and Best Rap/Sung Performance.

We’ll be highlighting all the Best New Artist nominees before they go head-to-head at the big show on Sunday (February 12) on CBS. Be sure to tune in – JustJared.com we’ll be live-blogging the entire show as well!

Kelsea Ballerini: Best New Artist of Grammys 2017 Countdown!

Our Best New Artist of the 2017 Grammy Awards countdown continues today with country star Kelsea Ballerini!

The 23-year-old Tennessee-bred singer-songwriter signed a recording deal with Black River Entertainment at the age of 19. Kelsea hit it strong right out the gate with her 2014 debut single “Love Me Like You Mean It.” The song soared all the way to number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, making Kelsea the first solo female country music artist to score a number one hit with her debut single since Carrie Underwood did so with “Jesus, Take the Wheel” in 2006.

Love Me Like You Mean It” was followed by “Dibs” and “Peter Pan” from her debut album The First Time, released in May of 2015. Both singles managed to top the Country Airplay chart making Kelsea the first solo female act to have three consecutive number one hits since Wynonna Judd accomplished the same feat in 1992.

This past Christmas, Kelsea announced her engagement to longtime love Morgan Evans, who is set to join her at the 2017 Grammys.

In case you missed it, check out Kelsea looking pretty in pink for the new cover of Billboard magazine.
