Margot Robbie has some thoughts about her Bombshell character, Kayla Pospisil.

The 29-year-old star opened up about the movie in an interview with Variety.

The fictional character is sexually fluid, and – spoiler alert! – has a drunken hookup with Jess (Kate McKinnon) in the film, a closeted lesbian. Afterward, her character says “Oh, I’m not a lesbian!”

“She’s just slept with a woman! I wanted to deliver that completely genuinely, not being ironic, not being sarcastic,” Margot says of that line.

“I secretly want a spinoff movie where Kayla and Jess go on a road trip with their opposing political views and their blossoming romance,” she went on to say, hypothesizing that her character “compartmentalizes” her attraction to women.

“And she is not going to acknowledge it until she’s 60,” adding that she’d have several marriages to men, and will have kids, but in her head, she sees “the woman that she eventually leaves them for.”

She also told director Jay Roach of her long-term vision for the character.

“Yeah! Jay was probably a little surprised, but entertained by that, I’m sure. I was like, ‘I know this doesn’t come into play in the movie, I just need to know what happens to Kayla.’”

The movie Bombshell is based on the Fox News scandal involving former CEO Roger Ailes and while the film features many real-life people, there’s also some fiction involved.

Margot Robbie‘s character Kayla Pospisil is not a real person, but instead is a composite of multiple real people.

The filmmakers behind the movie “spoke to about 20 people with a connection to Fox, including multiple women bound by confidentiality agreements,” according to THR.

“We have all taken an oath to protect our sources,” Charlize Theron, who starred in and produced the movie, said. “But we tried to communicate as much as we could with everybody. Yeah, I’ll just say that.”

Director Jay Roach explained that they created Kayla as a way of protecting people who had signed NDAs.

“We’re not revealing the people we talk to. We’re trying to protect them,” he told IndieWire. “We talked to some real people … It was the weather lady who was still working at Fox when we started the movie and was undercover, almost like a whistleblower. But [Janice Dean] slipped the names to Megyn and Megyn did help get them to come forward.”

Margot Robbie stars as conservative news reporter Kayla Pospisil in the new movie Bombshell and she decided to join the world of Twitter while preparing for the role.

The 29-year-old Oscar-nominated actress created a secret and anonymous account on the social media app to follow young and right-wing American women.

“I didn’t grow up watching Fox News, and I didn’t grow up in the same place as [Kayla]… I was struggling to understand that point of view for a while, and Twitter ended up being the most useful tool,” Margot told EW. “Because people are extremely vocal on Twitter.”

“Kayla is an amalgamation of many women’s stories, and some of the specifics you see in scenes with her are taken from real-life interactions those women experienced,” she added.

“The homework part was difficult,” Margot said. “But the emotional side was difficult in a different kind of way.”

Bombshell is now in theaters.

Charlize took to Twitter that day to promote a special cause on Giving Tuesday.

“For #GivingTuesday, I want to shine a light on my dear friend’s godson, Teddy, who suffers from an incredibly rare disease called CCHS,” she wrote.

The 44-year-old actress revealed in a new interview that she had to wear eight prosthetic pieces on her face to transform into the former Fox News host in the upcoming movie Bombshell.

“We worked with the greatest [special effects makeup artist], Kazu Hiro. It’s really hard to get him to do new stuff,” Charlize shared with Hollywood Reporter. “But I did a lot of begging and he came on and designed eight [prosthetic] pieces for me. Two of them basically covered my entire eyelids. It was very intricate work. Intricate work where you still need to be able to do what you need to do, like blink.”

Charlize‘s transformation into Megyn was so intense that Nicole once didn’t recognize her on set.

“She walked by me at one point and I thought she was mad at me. I thought, ‘Oh god! What did I do? Did I mess something up in her trailer? Did I not say hi nicely?’ She just came up to me and she was like ‘Charlize?’ and then I said, ‘Yes are you mad at me?’ She said, ‘No, I just didn’t know that was you!’” Charlize told ET.
