Jim Carrey has responded to the wrongful death lawsuit filed by his late girlfriend Cathriona White‘s mother.

The 54-year-old actor was accused of giving her prescription drugs and multiple sexually transmitted diseases leading up to her death in September 2015.

Jim filed court documents to ask the judge to strike all allegations, calling them “irrelevant,” according to People.

“From the two suicide notes, it is indisputable that White looked to Carrey as the person she loved and trusted most,” the documents state.

Jim accuses her mother, Brigid Sweetman, of trying to profit from her death.

Jim Carrey is speaking out after being sued for his involvement in the death of his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White, who overdosed last year.

The 54-year-old actor is being accused of providing drugs that contributed to Cathriona‘s death by her estranged husband, Mark Burton.

According to TMZ, Jim‘s lawyer says that the prescriptions were stolen and Jim did not provide her with any drugs.

“What a shame. It would be easy for me to get back in a room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away, but there are moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honor against the evil in this world. I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved,” Jim said in a statement.

He continued, “Cat‘s troubles were born long before I met her and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone’s control. I really hope someday soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace.”

“When I came to Hollywood to make it as a comedian, I soon learned that the details of my private life would be handed out to the media like free dinner vouchers,” the 53-year-old actor said in a statement (via People). “I never dreamed that the people I love most in the world would also be on the menu. What a shame.”

Cathriona tragically took her own life in September of 2015.

“I’ve spent 3 days now in disbelief that you’re not here. I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back. I could, I just don’t have the will this time… I’m sorry you felt I wasn’t there for you. I tried to give you my best part,” Cathriona wrote (via TMZ).

“I don’t really know about burial or that sort of thing. You are my family so whatever you choose will be fine,” she added. “Please forgive me. I’m just not for this world.”

Jim Carrey is breaking his social media silence following the death of his girlfriend Cathriona White and he is paying tribute to his late love.

The 53-year-old actor posted a photo of himself and Cathriona giving each other a loving stare and captioned it, “Love cannot be lost.” He also included an emoji of a rose.

Jim posted the tribute on Twitter right after he served as a pallbearer at Cathriona‘s funeral in Ireland.

The 53-year-old actor served as a pallbearer, someone who helps carry the casket from the church, following the funeral services.

Jim joined Cathriona‘s family at her hometown church in Cappawhite for the Reqiuem Mass. After the service, the coffin was walked through the village to a local cemetery and she was buried next to her late father Pat, according to People.

Cathriona, who was married at the time of her death, has been linked to Jim for the past three years and she was found dead of an apparent suicide inside her Los Angeles home on September 28.
