Connor Jaeger took home the silver medal in the 1500 meter freestyle in Rio!

The U.S. swimmer broke an American record with his time of 14:39.48 time. This is the first Olympic medal for Connor.

Gregorio Paltrinieri from Italy won gold, marking Italy’s first time ever winning a gold medal in the 1500m event.

Also from Italy, Gabriele Detti took home the bronze medal in the event.

Connor has significantly improved his swimming skills since his last Olympics. Back in 2012, he took sixth place during the London Summer Olympics.

With the competition rounds of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics kicking off this weekend, let’s take a moment to meet the U.S. Men’s Swimming Team!

The team will feature such star athletes as Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Nathan Adrian, and Conor Dwyer, who have all represented the U.S. in previous games.

Some of the star rookies that you should keep an eye on include 21-year-old Ryan Murphy, the current American record-holder in the 100- and 200-meter men’s backstroke.

19-year-old Caeleb Dressel is also considered to be one to watch. He will be competing in the 100-meter freestyle race.
