Don Cheadle to Narrate 'The Wonder Years' Reboot Pilot

Don Cheadle has joined The Wonder Years reboot pilot!

The 56-year-old Iron Man actor has signed on to narrate the upcoming reboot pilot for ABC, The Wrap confirms.

Don will be voicing the adult version of the show’s character Dean as he reflects on his younger self growing up in 1968 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Earlier this month, it was announced that newcomer Elisha Williams had been cast to play the young Dean.

The cast also includes Saycon Sengbloh, Dulé Hill, and Laura Kariuki.

The new version of The Wonder Years will focus on how a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama, in the turbulent late 1960s made sure it was “the wonder years” for them, too.

Back in January, it was announced that ABC had ordered a pilot for the reboot, which will be produced by Lee Daniels. Fred Savage, who rose to fame starring in the original, will also serve as an executive producer and will be directing the pilot.

Olivia Griffian is Serena Williams, James White is Maluma, and Claudia Alende is Megan Fox in the new commercial.

“It’s sort of a play on what’s real and what’s fake, and how people are fooled by what’s out there,” Don shared about the commercial.

Don‘s own brother, Colin, appears as his look-a-like.

“It’s cool to be able to close it whole circle by bringing my brother on, who has been mistaken for me many times.”

The 43-year-old Black Panther actor, who passed away in August after a private four-year battle with colon cancer, posthumously received the Hero of the Ages honor which aired on Sunday night (December 6).

Mr. Boseman truly embodied what it meant to be a superhero. His impact as a groundbreaking leading man, as an icon onscreen… it won’t be quantified by the box office records he broke but by the legion of fans who will celebrate him for many years to come.”

He continued: “He was the most heroic when just being Chad. That’s when he was bigger than anyone he played onscreen.”

Don added: “With every role he created a new legion of fans. He has an incredible power to unify people. The way he lived his life united people behind a higher purpose — and that will be his legacy.”

Here’s how Black Panther 2 will be honoring Chadwick Boseman in the upcoming movie.

Marvel Gave Don Cheadle 2 Hours to Take War Machine Role

Don Cheadle is speaking out about how he got the part of Rhodes aka War Machine in the Marvel movies, and how much time Marvel gave for him to decide if he even wanted the role.

“Early on, I had met on that role, and there were different factions and producers who wanted me and others that wanted Terrence [Howard], and the biggest voice in the room for that won, and Terrence got the part. Which was great. I thought he was great in the first [Iron Man]. And then through some stuff that is well-documented that they went through behind the scenes, it wasn’t his part anymore, so I got a call,” Don told AV Club.

If you don’t know, Terrence played the role of Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes in the first Iron Man film before Don took over the role for the remaining Marvel movies.

He continued, “I was actually at my kid’s birthday party—a laser tag party—and I got a call from my agent, and they said, “Hey, so I want to connect you to these Marvel guys. They want to talk to you, but they want to offer you the part.” I don’t think it was [Kevin] Feige. I don’t know who was on the phone. But they said, ‘Hey, this is the role. We want you to do this. It’s a six-picture deal.” I was like, ‘What?! Oh, uh, okay…’ And I’m trying to do the math. I’m like, ‘That’s 11 or 12 years. I’m not sure.’ And they’re like, ‘Well, we need to know, because if you’re not saying yes, then we’re gonna move on to the next person. So you’ve got an hour.’”

Don added, “An hour to decide 12 years, and a role and parts that I don’t even know, in movies that are coming down that I have no idea what they’ll be. I said, “I’m at my kid’s laser tag party right now.” They said, “Oh! Oh, take two hours.” So generous! So I go back inside, and I’m ducking behind things, playing laser tag, and talking to my wife. I’m like, “Should I take a flier on this? Is this something I should do?” And she said, “Well, yeah, I guess so. All things being equal, this is that kind of thing. You’ve never done anything like this before. Big special effects, tent pole, four-quadrant movie. Do you want to do something like this?” I said, “I kind of do.” She said, “Well, then take a flier. Let’s do it. Try it.”
