'The Handmaid's Tale' Gets Renewed for Season 5, Before Season 4 Ever Premieres!

Hulu just announced that The Handmaid’s Tale is going to get a fifth season – and this is before the fourth season even premieres!

The upcoming fourth season of the Emmy-winning series was in production when the coronavirus pandemic hit earlier this year, which forced it to shut down. The season will have 10 episodes, down from the 13 episodes in seasons two and three.

While season four will premiere in 2021, it’s not yet clear when season five will premiere.

THR reports that season four sees “June (Elisabeth Moss) strike back against Gilead as a fierce rebel leader, but the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges. Her quest for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.”

“We’re very grateful to Hulu and MGM that the show will be returning for a fifth season, and especially to our loyal fans for their support,” showrunner Bruce Miller said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be able to continue to tell these stories, with our incredible cast and crew, and can’t wait to be back on the air with season four next year.”

Elisabeth Moss to Play Former Congresswoman Katie Hill in New Movie

Elisabeth Moss has a new role lined up!

The 38-year-old Emmy-winning actress has signed on to play former Congresswoman Katie Hill in a film adaption of her memoir “She Will Rise: Becoming a Warrior in the Battle for True Equality,” Variety reports.

The movie is being produced by Blum along with Elisabeth‘s production company Love & Squalor Pictures. The movie is intended to be released on a streaming site.

In the book, “Hill recounts her experience as a young woman with no prior political experience whose charm, and common sense won over the people in her district and thrust her into the halls of power in Washington. While her brash confidence won her powerful allies and infuriated her enemies, it was privately concealing a cycle of domestic abuse she was trapped in at home, infamously culminating in the release of intimate photos and the revelation of her own admitted personal mistakes that would eventually result in her stunning fall from grace.”

“I am so honored to have the opportunity to portray Katie and to help tell her story,” Elisabeth said in a statement. “Her strength and work to amplify women’s voices is incredibly inspiring to me and her experiences could not be more important for us to magnify right now.”

Along with the new biopic, Elisabeth has tons of other new projects in the works!
