'Godzilla vs. Kong' Cast List - See Who's Playing Who, Plus Meet the Actors!

The new movie Godzilla vs. Kong is out now and it features a great cast consisting of some fan favorite actors and some rising stars who you might not be familiar with just yet.

Only a few cast members from the previous Godzilla and King Kong movies have returned for this sequel, including Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler as father-daughter duo Madison and Mark Russell.

You might remember that Madison’s mom, played by Vera Farmiga, sacrificed herself at the end of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Her character is referenced many times in the new movie, though she is not featured in any flashbacks.

Here is the synopsis of Godzilla vs. Kong: “Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.”

The movie is now playing in theaters and it will be streaming on HBO Max through April 30.

'Godzilla Vs. Kong' Release Date Pushed Back a Week

Godzilla Vs. Kong is getting a new release date.

The highly anticipated film, which was bumped up two months from May 21 to March 26, has now been postponed for another week, Warner Bros. confirmed, via Variety on Tuesday (January 26).

The film will now debut on March 31 simultaneously in movie theaters and on HBO Max amid the pandemic, launching internationally on March 26.

According to the outlet, the latest delay was “made in response to news that MGM would postpone its James Bond entry No Time to Die from April 2 to Oct. 8. Sony’s Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, which had also been set for April 2, was delayed to June.”

Legendary Entertainment, the production company behind the movie, recently resolved an argument with Warner Bros. after threatening to take legal action over the studio’s decision to put all of its 2021 movies on HBO Max on the same day they debut in theaters in 2021.

“Legendary was frustrated because Warner Bros., its frequent collaborators, had previously blocked Netflix’s $250 million bid to buy the monster movie. The two companies have reportedly hashed out frustrations and settled on a release strategy that satisfied both parties,” Variety adds.

The film stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler and Demián Bichir.

'Godzilla vs. Kong' Will Still Be Released on HBO Max After Warner Bros. Nears Deal with Legendary

It looks like fans will still be able to watch Godzilla vs. Kong from the comfort of their own homes on the same day the movie hits theaters.

Warner Bros. previously announced that the studio’s entire 2021 film slate would premiere on the streaming service HBO Max on their theatrical release dates, but this angered many movie stars and filmmakers because of the loss of potential profits.

THR is reporting that Warner Bros. is nearing a deal with Legendary Entertainment, the production company that financed most of Godzilla vs. Kong‘s massive $200 million budget.

“Legendary is still negotiating with talent on Godzilla but that is not expected to derail a deal. The movie will keep its May 21 release date in theaters, including IMAX, as well as HBO Max,” the outlet reported.

Legendary is also the production company behind the movie Dune, which was also announced to be getting an HBO Max release. That deal is expected to be more complicated and details are not yet known.

'Dune' & 'Godzilla vs. Kong' Producer Might Sue Warner Bros. Over HBO Max Release Plan

Legendary Entertainment, the production company behind movies like Dune and Godzilla vs. Kong, reportedly is considering filing a lawsuit against Warner Bros. over the studio’s new release plans for the movies.

The studio recently revealed that its entire 2021 slate, including Dune and Godzilla vs. Kong, will be released on the streaming service HBO Max on the same day they are put in theaters.

Variety reports that Legendary, which co-financed the big budget movies, was “largely kept out of the loop” about the plans.

The report says that Legendary is “hoping to first negotiate a more generous deal, but isn’t taking legal action off the table should the two companies fail to come to a compromise.” There’s a possibility that Warner Bros. might buy the films from Legendary, but if that doesn’t happen, breach of contract could become an issue.
