“We call it in the film the War of ’96. It’s like a post-World generation that’s unified, and that’s amazing to see a world come together with a common enemy. That’s a resurgence,” the film’s director Roland Emmerich shared about the film’s title at a Q&A.

Roland was joined at the Q&A by Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner, and Judd Hirsch. Watch the Q&A below!

Huge casting news for the highly anticipated movie Independence Day 2 – Sela Ward will be playing the President of the United States!

You heard that right, a female president will be featured in the upcoming blockbuster movie. Her character’s name will be President Lanford, according to Deadline.

Sela previously worked with the film’s director Roland Emmerich on the movie The Day After Tomorrow.

Returning for the film are Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Vivica A. Fox along with newcomers to the cast, Liam Hemsworth, Joey King, Maika Monroe, and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
