Shawn Mendes was the guest co-host on the latest episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and he reunited with Modern Family‘s Jesse Tyler Ferguson!
Jesse was the guest that evening and was interviewed by both Jimmy and Shawn, who he first met years ago at a party.
“We met four or five years ago, I think at an Oscars party,” Jesse said. “[My husband] Justin and I walked in and Shawn was standing right there. You were by yourself and had this look on your face like, ‘Oh my god, I don’t know anyone.’ We were like, ‘We’ll talk to you!’”
Shawn chimed in, “You guys were my saviors. I think you’re missing that part. I was terrified and you came in and were like, ‘yeah, right.’”
Jesse added, “Justin and I were about to start a meditation class and I don’t know if you started that or were interested in it, and you were like, ‘Well can we exchange numbers?’ And so I got your number. And I never called. I was like, ‘I’m not going to call Shawn Mendes.’ One time your music was playing in the car and I was like, ‘I’m going to tell him I’m listening to his music.’ But I was like, that’s lame.”
Jesse then said that after he learned he would be on The Tonight Show with Shawn, he texted him, but never got a response!
“You texted me and I didn’t get your text?” Shawn said while looking at Jesse‘s phone. “You did text me!”
