Great news – The Leftovers has officially been renewed for a second season on HBO!

“We are thrilled to bring back The Leftovers for a second season with the exceptional talents of Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta,” Michael Lombardo, president of HBO programming, said in a statement (via Deadline). “It has been truly exciting to see the overwhelming response to their provocative and original storytelling. We look forward to continuing the journey as the show delves deeper into the lives of those who remain.”

Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Carrie Coon, Emily Meade, Amanda Warren, Ann Dowd, Michael Gaston, Max and Charlie Carver, and Annie Q star in the series.

Justin Theroux is shirtless and looks confused and scared in the brand new first full-length trailer for his show The Leftovers.

“Where did they come from? What do they want? You don’t even know who they are!” the 42-year-old actor says in the trailer.

“Some bad sh*t’s coming and there’s no getting around it. Grace period’s over,” warns another character during the trailer.

Amy Brenneman, Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston, Chris Zylka, Ann Dowd, Liv Tyler, Michael Gaston, Charlie Carver, Max Carver, Emily Meade, Amanda Warren and Margaret Qually also star in the series, set to premiere on June 29 on HBO.

The show is about two percent of the world’s population suddenly disappearing. We don’t know much else about the plot of the series, but the narrator in the trailer is reading an excerpt from Walt Whitman‘s poem “Song of Myself” with a few minor changes to the words.

“I wish I could translate the hints about the departed young men and women, and the hints about old men and mothers and the offspring taken soon out of their laps. What do you think has become of the old men? What do you think has become of the women and children? They are alive and well somewhere. The smallest sprout shows there really is no death. All goes onward and outward, and nothing collapses. And to depart is different from what anyone supposed… and luckier.”

Justin Theroux looks like he’s received quite a shock in this brand new teaser trailer for his upcoming HBO show The Leftovers.

“And just like that, they were gone. The Leftovers is coming soon to HBO.” the tagline for the show reads in the caption of the video. So spooky!

Mark you calenders – HBO just set a premiere date for The Leftovers! The series from Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof will premiere on June 15 at 10pm EST, right after the season finale of Game of Thrones.

Liv Tyler, twins Charlie and Max Carver, Chris Zylka, and Amy Brenneman also star.

It was recently announced that Amy Brenneman and Emily Meade would be joining the cast of The Leftovers.

Amy would play “Laurie, a woman who has left her entire life behind to join a mysterious cult” while Emily would play “Amy, an uninhibited high school student who seemingly takes the apocalypse in stride.”
