LeVar Burton is moving on to a new game show.
Deadline reports that the 64-year-old former Star Trek actor and Reading Rainbow educator will be hosting a new game show based on Trivial Pursuit!
If you’re unfamiliar, Trivial Pursuit is a game of knowledge where player’s answer general knowledge and popular culture questions. The point of the game is to earn a wedge from each section on the board. The first to collect all six wedges is the winner.
“Trivial Pursuit is one of the best-known brands in the gaming universe. I am thrilled to have partnered with Hasbro and eOne to bring this beloved game to market as a premium show for television,” LeVar shared in a statement.
The show is currently in development for eOne, and on top of hosting, LeVar will also exec produce the project via his LeVar Burton Entertainment banner.
“LeVar Burton has been an iconic member of American pop culture for decades from Roots to Reading Rainbow to Star Trek and beyond. His love for intellectual curiosity paired with his ability to connect with audiences worldwide make him the perfect partner to bring Hasbro’s beloved trivia game to households in a new and exciting way,” added Tara Long, President, Global Unscripted Television, eOne.
The news comes after LeVar hosted a week of Jeopardy! earlier this year, and then revealed it wasn’t the job for him full time.
