The winner of the 2018 Miss America pageant was announced during the live event held on Sunday night (September 10) at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey!

Miss North Dakota – Cara Mund – was crowned by the 2017 winner Savvy Shields as the first winner out of North Dakota.

The celeb panel of judges evaluated all 51 contestants on evening wear, fitness, lifestyle, talent and interview categories.

Cara will tour the country as Miss America for the next year before starting law school at the University of Notre Dome.

The 2018 Miss America Competition is set to air later tonight live from Atlantic City, New Jersey, and it’s time to get to know the hosts and judges for this year’s big event.

Young women from all over the country are going to be competing for the title of Miss America and you can watch it all happen tonight at 9pm ET on ABC.

At the top of the show, the 52 contestants will be narrowed down to just 15 and then the competition will get started.

The 30-year-old entertainer and 20-year-old Olympian were joined by fellow judges Sara Foster, Mark Cuban, Cole Swindell, Laura Marano, and hosts Chris Harrison and Sage Steele.

The winner of the 2017 Miss America pageant was announced during the live event held on Sunday night (September 11) at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

The top seven ladies were announced near the end of the show and all of the women had to answer a question about current events. The pageant is held at the end of 2016 so that the winner can serve the following year.

The questions ranged from the presidential candidates to immigration issues to Colin Kaepernick‘s decision to sit down during the National Anthem.

Ultimately, Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields was crowned the winner by the panel of seven celebrity judges. The University of Arkansas student performed a dance routine to a song from Smash as her talent.

The 2017 Miss America pageant (which takes place in 2016) is happening later tonight and we have all of the info on the celebrity judges!

The competition will kick off at 9pm on ABC and the 52 contestants will be narrowed down to the top 15 by preliminary judges Katherine Bailess, Debby Bryant Berge, Rob Bowman, Jennifer Caudle, Nicole Lapin, Deanna Siller, and David Zinczenko.

After the competition is narrowed down, the seven celebrity judges will be in control and evaluating the top 15.
