Now that Hairspray Live! is just hours away, fans may be wondering what happened to the cast of the 2007 film!

We caught up with Nikki Blonsky – who starred as Tracy Turnblad alongside Zac Efron, Amanda Bynes, John Travolta and more – to get her reaction to the new NBC version, and to see what she’s up to now!

“I’m thrilled that NBC has decided to put out a powerful musical with such a positive message for the country to see at such a pivotal point in our country’s history,” Nikki told JustJared.com. “I hope it can be used not only as entertainment but as an educational piece for our youth. I know when I did the 2007 film version of Hairspray it was needed and changed a lot of lives worldwide…hopefully this version that airs today can do the same nationwide. I will cherish the relationships I made in 2007 on the film version, my cast is family to me and always will be. We truly are film family for life.”

Hairspray Live! airs TONIGHT, Wednesday, December 7 @ 8PM ET/PT on NBC.

Aaron Tveit and Matthew Morrison are two dapper dudes while attending the New York Pops 31st Birthday Gala held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Monday evening (April 28) in New York City.

The guys both played the role of Link Larkin in the Broadway musical Hairspray and were joined by Matthew‘s original cast mates Marissa Jaret Winokur, Laura Bell Bundy, and Kerry Butler.

Also joining the cast were Ricki Lake who played Tracy Turnblad in the original movie and Nikki Blonsky who played that role in the recent musical remake.

All of the stars hit the stage at Carnegie Hall that evening to perform the showstopper “You Can’t Stop the Beat” to help honor the show’s composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman.

Amanda Bynes wears a pair of bright neon heels and tries to hail a cab on Thursday afternoon (April 18) in New York City.

The 27-year-old former actress’ co-star from the movie Hairspray, Nikki Blonsky, recently chatted with Life & Style about Amanda‘s life.

“She’s the same Amanda I met working on Hairspray. She’s happy. I don’t think that’s a breakdown, but a breakthrough,” Nikki said. “I back Amanda 100 percent. I don’t think there is any concern on anybody’s part. She is just living her life and doing what she wants to do and I totally support that for her. I think it was more like an episode of events that maybe people are finding her different for, because she has been so cookie-cutter and so perfect over the years.”

Synopsis: Best friends while they were growing up, Emma (Bilson) and Will (Tom Sturridge) lost touch a long time ago as far as she knows. He survives on his talent as a juggler and entertainer talents honed through years of showing off for Emma. When her father gets sick, Emma returns to their hometown, trying to leave behind her complicated love life and failing career as a TV actress.

The film, out February 2011, also stars Nikki Blonsky and Richard Jenkins.

The 27-year-old Big C actress and Nikki, 21, took in the fashion from the front row!

Earlier this month, Gab shared some exciting news on her Facebook page: “Hi! I just filled out my Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences(Oscar) paperwork!” she shared. “I’m officially an Academy member! That means i can vote!!!!! Exciting stuff!”

“I’m feeling very proud and grateful for all of my fans and the complete wonderment of this last year. Not bad for the daughter of a street performer and a cab driver,” Gab continued.

Nikki Blonsky hits up an event at Planet Hollywood to promote her ABC Family series Huge before walking the red carpet at the Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam premiere at Alice Tully Hall in NYC on Wednesday (August 18).

The 21-year-old Hairspray actress has said that she attributes her success to her parents. “I was told every single day that I was their beautiful little girl. They made me feel like I could do anything in the world.”

Nikki compared the love-triangle on Huge between her character Will, Amber (Hayley Hasselhoff), and Ian (Ari Stidham) to reality TV saying, “You have to tune in to see who he chooses at the end. It’s kind of a really sick form of ‘The Bachelor.’”
