So many famous faces in Hollywood can trace their family’s roots back to Ireland.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day 2023, we rounded up 20 stars who have Irish heritage. We’re pretty sure that you’ll already know about at least half of the people’s connection to Ireland.

One of them even joked that they were not Irish enough, despite having a DNA test confirm that they were more than 98% from the country. Others have been recognized at awards shows honoring their heritage or have starred in Irish roles.

However, some of the stars on the list might surprise you! We say that because some of the celebrities themselves were even shocked to learn that they had family in Ireland in the past.

Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden are still going strong as a couple!

The 28-year-old four-time Oscar-nominated actress was spotted walking her dog with Jack, 32, on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

The longtime couple was seen strolling through a park and stopping to pick up some groceries at a local market.

It’s unclear when Saoirse and Jack started dating, but they starred together in the 2018 movie Mary Queen of Scots. The first photos we posted of them together were in 2020 when they were spotted cuddling at a park.

Jack is best known for roles in movies like Dunkirk and Fighting with My Family, as well as the TV series Slow Horses.

Saoirse was most recently seen in the ensemble movies The French Dispatch and See How They Run. She was recently in production on the upcoming film Blitz.

Saoirse Ronan covers up her costume with a blue jacket while arriving on the set of her new movie, Blitz, in London over the weekend.

The 28-year-old actress was seen with super blonde hair and a bold color lipstick for the scenes she was about to film for the flick, which will be directed by Steve McQueen.

Harris Dickinson, Erin Kellyman and Stephen Graham will also star in the movie.

Announced in September 2022, Saoirse will lead the film, which tells the stories “of a group of Londoners during the aerial bombing of the British capital during the war,” Variety stated.

Not much else is known about the movie at this time. However, additional images from filming showed several extras around the set in period looks, as well as vintage cars of the era.

Previously, it was thought that Saoirse would have a cameo in Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie movie. However, the plans fell though and she won’t be in the movie after all.

Saoirse Ronan was supposed to make a cameo in the live action Barbie movie. However, the plans for her to live in the Barbie world unfortunately fell through.

The 28-year-old Little Women star would have reunited with her Mary Queen of Scots co-star Margot Robbie, who is bringing the iconic doll to life. It also would have marked another collaboration between Saoirse and director Greta Gerwig. They previously worked together on Little Women and Lady Bird.

In a new interview, the actress revealed why the plans fell through and what role she was supposed to play!

Saoirse Ronan rides her white bike right next to boyfriend Jack Lowden around East London, England, over the weekend.

The 28-year-old Little Women actress had safety in mind wearing a helmet during their bike around the city.

Later on, Saoirse and Jack were spotted meeting up with a few friends for lunch at a local eatery. She even brought along her dog, who sat in her lap during the meal.

The couple were last seen out together in June, on a low key meet up with more friends in the city.

It’s rumored that Saoirse will be part of the upcoming Barbie movie. Her involvement has not been confirmed by the studio nor director Greta Gerwig just yet.

The upcoming Searchlight Pictures movie See How They Run has been given a release date and the first photos have been revealed!

Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan lead the ensemble cast, that also includes Adrien Brody, Ruth Wilson, Reece Shearsmith, Harris Dickinson, Charlie Cooper, Shirley Henderson, Lucian Msamati, Pippa Bennett Warner, Pearl Chanda, Paul Chahidi, Sian Clifford, Jacob Fortune Lloyd, Tim Key, Ania Marson, and David Oyelowo.

Here is the synopsis: “In the West End of 1950s London, plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered. When world-weary Inspector Stoppard (Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Ronan) take on the case, the two find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid theater underground, investigating the mysterious homicide at their own peril.”

The movie will be released exclusively in theaters on September 30.
