Sara Bareilles is heading to television in the new comedy series Girls5eva and Peacock just released the show’s first trailer!

In the new series, a one-hit-wonder girl group from the 90’s gets sampled by a young rapper, so its members reunite to give their pop star dreams one more shot. They may be grown women balancing spouses, kids, jobs, debt, aging parents, and shoulder pain, but can‘t they also be Girls5eva?

Also starring in the series are Busy Philipps, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Paula Pell, Ashley Park, and Erika Henningsen as the younger version of Paula’s character.

Tina Fey is among the executive producers and she actually has a connection to both Erika and Ashley. They starred in the Broadway musical version of her movie Mean Girls!

All eight episodes of Girls5eva will be available to stream on Peacock on May 6.

Sara Bareilles fans have something to look forward to as she teased that she has new music on the way!

The Grammy-winning singer is seemingly getting ready to drop an EP featuring her previously unreleased songs. She teased the news on Twitter on Monday (March 8) by jokingly saying she has a friend who needs help coming up with a name for the EP.

“Happy international women’s day! If i theoretically had a friend that was going to release previously unreleased songs on a few Eps…what would you call that? Asking for a friend. The lost EPs? Hmm,” Sara tweeted.

One fan replied, “idk ma’am but could you please put parking lot on spotify.” Sara wrote back saying, “I need a title first.” This basically confirms that the EP is hers!

Sara Bareilles has been a Grammy winner for over a year, but she finally has her award in her possession!

The 41-year-old singer won the Grammy Award for Best American Roots Performance for her song “Saint Honesty” at last year’s ceremony, which took place on January 26, 2020.

Sara was unable to attend the event because she was starring in the musical Waitress in London at the time.

“Long road to this sweet moment. Just arrived today. One year later. Feeling all the joyful feelings,” Sara captioned a video, captured by her longtime boyfriend Joe Tippett, of the Grammy in her new home.

Sara is currently filming the upcoming Peacock comedy series Girls5Eva, which is being produced by Tina Fey. Check out the photos we posted from the set back in October.

Seventeen months after Scooter Braun bought Taylor Swift‘s master recordings of her first six albums after acquiring her first label, Big Machine, he has now sold them.

If you missed the news, Scooter sold her master records for north of $300 million. This month, Taylor would legally be able to start re-recording all of her old music to redistribute, making her the owner of the new songs.

Sara was one of the first celebrities to issue a reaction to this news, defending Taylor by saying, “I will never not feel like this is just f*cking robbery. Greed is a virus too and it’s everywhere. F*ck that. @taylorswift13 sending you love.”

At the time that Scooter bought Taylor‘s recording history, she wasn’t given the option to buy back her music herself. At the time, she received a ton of support from celebrities and music stars to be able to own her own music. The 41-year-old actress got animated while filming a scene with her co-stars Sara Bareilles and Paula Pell. This marks the first time she’s been spotted on set for the upcoming Peacock series!

Deadline reports that Busy will “star as Summer, the most bubbly, but least talented member of the group. Summer is now a Real Housewives reject in yoga pants living in a New Jersey McMansion.”

The upcoming series is going to stream on the Peacock streaming service and it is being executive produced by Tina Fey, among others. She was spotted on set alongside the pilot’s director Kat Coiro.

Sara is playing “Dawn, a former member of Girls5eva, who is now a bit restless in life managing her family’s small Italian restaurant in Queens. When the opportunity arises, Dawn reluctantly gets the band back together for a Girls5eva reunion and it might just be exactly what she needed.”

Renee is starring as “Wickie, the glamorous, big-voiced, star of the group back in the day. Wickie’s solo career hit a ditch, but she’s determined to use this new opportunity to retake her rightful place as pop royalty.”

In the scene, it looks like Wickie arrived at Dawn’s apartment with her suitcase in tow.

Sara Bareilles is opening up about something funny that happened to her this week!

The Grammy-winning singer opened up her mail and found something addressed to actress Sarah Jessica Parker, but she thought someone was pranking her, so she opened up the package.

When Sara opened the package, she realized the gift was actually for SJP!

“To finish a truly bizarre day, Sarah Jessica Parker, I got your mail,” Sara wrote on Instagram Stories along with a photo of the gift from Wolford.

“I didn’t mean to open it… I thought someone was being cute with my name on the address, but it’s really for you. Um, thank you 2020? Happy to send the gorgeous box of goodies wherever you like. Xo,” she added.
