“[It] made me feel closer to her in a way that I don’t think I could have,” Margot shared with E! News. “Reading things and watching things can only really get you so far, but having that personal connection meant a lot to me.”

During a recent appearance on Today, Margot reflected on the sadness she often felt while filming. Sharon was brutally killed by members of the Charles Manson family when she was 8 and a half months pregnant back in 1969.

“It was kind of, sometimes very sad to be that closely connected with real-life Sharon,” Margot revealed. “It would kind of hit you at moments. Suddenly the tragedy of it all would kind of hit you and you’d be tremendously sad. And other times she just made me feel so happy. But yes, there were moments where it was very sad.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood hits theaters on Friday, July 26.

Sharon Tate's Sister Supports Kate Bosworth Playing Her Late Sibling in Upcoming Movie 'Tate'

Debra Tate is in support of Kate Bosworth playing the role of her late sister, Sharon Tate, in an upcoming biopic called Tate.

Debra acts as a producer on the upcoming movie, which is being directed by Kate‘s husband, Michael Polish.

The reason is because “it has nothing to do with Sharon’s death,” she told People.

“They’re telling her story as a woman aside from the murders. Kate is going to capture Sharon’s heart, feeling and attitude.”

Kate posted an update about the movie on her Instagram on Wednesday (March 7).

“It is my honor to play Sharon Tate in our next film TATE. This movie will only celebrate her life. We will not violate her or exploit her death. For too long this beautiful woman made of light has had to endure tragedy. It is time to take away the microphone from the maniac. It’s her time. Thank you Debra Tate for joining us in sharing your sister’s life. I know, with you as our producing partner- we will do right. I love you. And to my husband- who stands with me, everyday, striving to bring female forward stories to the screen. I love you. Simply, you are the greatest,” she wrote.

Debra previously bashed an upcoming movie about Sharon‘s murder starring Hilary Duff, calling it “classless.”

Sharon Tate's Sister Slams Hilary Duff's New Movie About Her Murder

Sharon Tate‘s sister Debra Tate is not happy with the new movie about the final days of her sisters life.

The film is titled The Haunting of Sharon Tate and stars Hilary Duff in the title role.

If you don’t know the story, Sharon was 26-years-old and just about nine months pregnant with her first child with husband Roman Polanski when she was brutally stabbed to death in her home by members of Charles Manson‘s cult back in 1969.

Debra told People that it’s “classless” and “exploitative.”

“It doesn’t matter who it is acting in it – it’s just tasteless,” she continued. “It’s classless how everyone is rushing to release something for the 50th anniversary of this horrific event.”

There are also reports that Sharon had a premonition that the murders would happen, which could be the premise of Hilary‘s new movie. Debra responded to this.

“I know for a fact she did not have a premonition — awake or in a dream…I checked with all of her living friends. None of her friends had any knowledge of this. Tacky, tacky, tacky,” Debra continued. “It’s a total fabrication.”

“Had the incredible opportunity of playing Sharon Tate the past two weeks in an independent movie. She was an amazing woman and it was a true honor,” Hilary captioned the below photo.
