Leonardo DiCaprio took the stand on Monday (April 3) to testify about his relationship with accused billionaire Jho Low in a federal trial against Fugees member Pras Michel.

The 48-year-old actor is not accused of anything. However, Jho has allegedly embezzled money from Malaysia, and Pras is believed to have been one of several people who helped him funnel it via political donations while making a profit.

He has also been accused of trying to cover up his involvement in the alleged crimes.

While Leonardo was not involved in the alleged scheme, he was called in to testify about his experiences with Jho, who he first met in 2010. The billionaire reportedly gave to his charities and helped back his movie The Wolf of Wall Street.

The future proceeds for The Wolf of Wall Street may be going to the government.

The Department of Justice moved to seize about $1 billion in assets from Red Granite Pictures, a production company, in a civil suit accusing them of using $100 million dollars from the Malaysian state development fund 1MDB to finance the film, according to Reuters.

“To Red Granite’s knowledge, none of the funding it received four years ago was in any way illegitimate and there is nothing in today’s civil lawsuit claiming that Red Granite knew otherwise,” the company said in a statement (via Deadline). “Red Granite continues to cooperate fully with all inquiries and is confident that when the facts come out, it will be clear that Riza Aziz and Red Granite did nothing wrong. Red Granite does not expect the lawsuit – which is limited to future proceeds generated by a single film, and which was not filed against Red Granite or any of its employees – to impact its day to day operations, and the company continues to move forward with exciting new projects.”

In case you didn’t know, The Wolf of Wall Street, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and was directed by Martin Scorcese, made a whopping $400 million at the global box office, earned five Oscar nominations, and won Leo a Golden Globe for Best Actor.

The 38-year-old actor is joined in the flick by a star-studded cast including Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Bernthal, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie, Cristin Milioti, and Jean Dujardin.

Leonardo DiCaprio gets taken away kicking and screaming while being arrested for a scene in his upcoming movie The Wolf of Wall Street on Wednesday (November 28) in New York City.

The 38-year-old actor was seen arriving in a helicopter at the heliport before being taken away by men in FBI coats.

The 38-year-old actor filmed scenes earlier in the day at the local correctional facility playing a game of tennis.
