Marc Webb Set to Direct 'Spider-Man' Reboot

(500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb will direct the forthcoming Spider-Man prequel!

The film, which will feature Spidey as a high-schooler coming into his powers, will begin filming later this year after casting, Variety reports.

Marc is only signed on for one film for now, but the deal being negotiated includes options for future films if the movie does well.

Insisting that he doesn’t plan to take over what Spidey franchise director Sam Raimi started, Marc said, “I’m here because there’s an opportunity for ideas, stories and histories that will add a new dimension, canvas and creative voice to Spider-Man.”

    @name: He would be adorable!

    Hopefully this time they’ll cast someone who actually LOOKS like Peter Parker from the comics.

    Sam Raimi can now focus on Warcraft. Which is good. Spidy franchise and Sam needed to break from each other.

    Even as a die-hard Spidey fan, I’ll be the first to admit that the 3rd movie was so bad it actually made me burst out into tears, although Sony was 100% responsible for the crappy story. I’m actually pissed Sam Raimi wasn’t able to fix the damage created in the 3rd movie. It’s really hard to think of actors that would be perfect for the roles that are now vacated. If I hear Zac Efron and Peter Parker in the same sentence again I will scream. He is a terrible actor and doesn’t have the depth to play such an emotional character. I loved (500) Days of Summer so I’ll be somewhat optimistic about Marc Webb. Sony, don’t screw this up too!!

    This guys directing it?!? I thought John McGee or Bill Smith were getting it. Hell even Mike Phillips would have been a better choice.

    With that said I’m just glad Derek Caine didn’t get it.

    P.S. Who the FUKK is Marc Webb!!!!!!!!!
