The rumor about Emma being the lead in that dragon tattoo movie comes from The Sun, which makes up everything. Every news story that’s come out of that newspaper about Emma has been false. So, it’s feasable that she cut her hair for the role, but I don’t think it’s true.

As much as I love Emma Watson and think she has a ton of underrated talent, I am happy (if the rumor is false) that she’s not getting the part. Other than her fans, the rest of the world see’s her as an amateur actress that’s played 1 character her whole life-that’s not the greatest actress in the world. First, those people have never seen Ballet Shoes (100% rating on rottentomatoes.com). She was brilliant in that movie. Alright, it was a TV movie in Britain, but it got wonderful reviews and it’s on DVD, I’ll give you that. Second, she has the acting chops to do a good movie, people don’t give her a chance because she’s played a snooty (first 3 books at least), intelligent bookworm for over 11 years. Critics give her praise for her acting as it’s gotten 100x better over the past 11 years, so you can see she’s getting better.

That paragraph might sound very random, so I’ll sum it up. This role is one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood right now. Emma’s acting talents aren’t being compared to Angelina Jolie or Helen Mirren. You either like her acting styles and abilities or hate them. Emma has millions of fans around the world, so the movie would make pretty good money, but do I think the movie would be popular with critics and the general public seeing Hermione Granger on screen playing a depressed spikey haired tattooed girl? I have a bad feeling about that, I just do. That’s why I don’t want Emma to get that role. She needs to experiment with dark roles in smaller films, not a movie like this. It could either be a big bomb and one of the biggest embarassments of her life, or it could be one of the greatest roles she could take on…
