He looks horrible. Another bomb for him and Reese. He’s only successful as a vampire, but you can’t do that the rest of your life, right?

  • Beth

@Frosty: Unless you’re Bela Lugosi lol

  • Commie

He’s the cutest guy in films right now. The heartthrobs of old are reaching their 40′s and 50′s.

  • Thomas

I’m surprised at how bad Reese Witherspoon’s last movie bombed, and Robert Pattinson non-Twilight movie bombed. This looks like a real stinker.

  • Olivia

The book was great, but he cannot act for sh*t. Too bad.

  • Ali

It looks like bad casting to me. She seems too old for him. Kristof is poorly set in this picture as the wronged husband. And Pattinson always looks misplaced in films – like it is not his real work.

The book may pull people in. I don’t expect it will be a huge hit, especially if it gets panned by the critics.

  • Laura-C

Robert Pattinson is a great actor, he’s playing a character and how could people judge by a photo? His abilities do not stop at ‘Twilight’. Watch ‘Little Ashes’ that’s a great movie, this guy has more range than being a one trick pony. ‘Water For Elephants’ the book, is amazing and I have high hopes that the movie will be done justice.

  • Veronica

Rob might be young, but he’s not that attractive. I agree that people like Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp are on the tail end of their heartthrob days that Hollywood is scrambling to find someone. But the quality of handsome men have really went down over the last 10 years.

  • Celia

This movie looks so boring. It can’t get more bland than Reese Witherspoon and the twilight guy. No chemistry at all.
I don’t think romance is his strong point. Just sayin’.

And although it’s good to see Reese doing something other than silly Rom-Coms…I’m not too sold on this one.

  • Veronica

Ryan Reynolds is another ugly dude that Hollywood wants to promote. Hedlund guy is average.

  • Celia

Who says guys in their 40s and 50s aren’t hot. I’ll take George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Hugh Jackman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Clive Owen, Colin Farrell, Ryan Gosling, Johnny Depp, and all the 30+ guys anyday over all these little 20 year old lady-boys that are popping up.

  • Jack B.

Looks like they messed up this book. The age difference between Witherspoon and Pattinson is obvious, and they look uncomfortable together. Pattinson is too weak an actor for Jacob. Waltz and Witherspoon may be able to salvage something, but I’m not holding my breath if the trailer is anything to go by. Shame, since the book had real potential.

  • megan

I’ve never been that into RPattz, but he looks gorgeous in this movie. I think I might finally be seeing the big deal. The movie looks really good too.

  • JC

They better hope he can draw the Twilight crowd into the theater because she sure isn’t a box office draw these days. This is going to be one of those movies that better be good because it’s success will depend on word of mouth to carry it past whatever his name can bring in on the opening weekend. If it stinks it he’ll continue to be defined by one role, and she’ll have one successful live action film (Four Christmases) since Walk the Line came out in 2005.

  • Lisa

Agreed! Those guys are still smokin’ hot! I don’t Pattinson attractive at all. Who said getting old meant you stopped being hot? Give me George Clooney over Robert Pattinson any day.

  • stephie

He may be able to pull in some Twilight fans. But not all twilight fans are fans of Robert.
He hasn’t shown that people (besides his fans) are willing to pay to see him on the screen. A lot of people are sick of seeing him everywhere. He has been overexposed in the media, and that hurts the boxoffice.
Reese has not opened a movie well in a looooong time. Most people find her quite bland.
The only real spark of interest in this cast is Christoph. But as well respected as he is, I don’t think that he is much of a a box office draw.
I smell another bomb for Reese and Robert.

  • @3

    Since when are feet attractive?
I don’t find him to be good looking at all. He always looks like he smells.
Give me Leo, George, Matthew or Orlando ANY DAY!

  • Single

It’s funny how guys seem to like the young actresses like Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, Jessica Alba, but no guys talk about what a babe the older actresses are. Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren. They all appeal to the women demo because guys are ageist and favor the young but women like older actors! Name an actor in his twenties that is heartthrob material and you would prefer to watch in movies or go out with over any older actor like Leo Dicaprio, George Clooney, or Brad Pitt. While I’m sure men will take a Jessica Alba or Blake Lively over a Reese Witherspoon or Julia Roberts both movie and in bed.

  • jgnghmmh

What I don’t get is why people think that box office draw means that a movie is good or even the actors are decent. There are many fantastic actors and movies out there that my not be a hit in the box office. It does not mean that they are not good. People need to stop associating making a lot of money with good quality acting and films. I am indifferent to Rob. Don’t love him, don’t hate him. But I have seen movies he was in that were so called “failures”, but in which I thought he was actually a good actor in, and got good reviews. Reese has not been in a good movie for a while. But that doesn’t man she is not talented. I just think that she has been choosing poor roles. Romantic comedies are not exactly the most substantial roles.

  • Laury

The script is changed around from the book. The age of the actors make sense in this movie. I guess Rob’s older female fans will like this more since he is young and dating an older women, something they can relate to better. Older women go to the cinema too. Give them something to fantasize over.

  • Larry

Rob must have aced his audition to be cast in this role over every other actor in Hollywood. Don’t judge his acting until you actually watched the movie! What a weird crowd to predict box office bomb or not when only the first trailer and still have surfaced.

  • Tai

Tai looks awesome. His elephant tricks in the trailer looks very impressive.

  • emma

Water for Elephants opens April 22, 2011. You have the wrong date.

  • JC

Yeah they’re called indies. BTW this movie is opening a week later now on April 22, not April 15. They want ‘Water For Elephants’ to make money. If they didn’t they would have kept it opening on April 15 against Scream 4. They knew they weren’t going to win the weekend so they pushed the release a week.

  • Maddie

What’s with all the hate? Did people not see him in ‘Remember Me’ or ‘Little Ashes’ ? He was great in those movies. I believe he’s pretty good in Twilight for what the story is. He’s a good actor, but he’s only done a few movies. How is he supposed to grow and become better if he’s not in movies. I think this is a great opportunity for him, and I believe he’ll be great as Jacob. I could picture him in that role after finding out he was cast. Water For Elephants is an amazing book, and I believe he’ll do the role justice. Why is everyone so full of hate these days?

  • Weazl

Rob is doing fine for himself. Acting alongside two Oscar winning actors. The Harry Potter kids can only get small supporting roles in British indies or lead roles in no name projects.

  • Save The Elephants

The poor elephants in this film – both these idiots could care less about how cruelly performing animals are treated. Hope this movie BOMBS!

  • SaveTheOwls-EqualAnimalRights

I guess with all the animals featured in the Harry Potter movies, they must be cruelly treated and you wished that they bomb as well!

  • emma

This movie will do great. So proud of Rob.

  • Lizzie

I like Reese but I cannot stand Robert Pattinson. Think I’ll skip this one.

  • Lola

    I can’t wait!!!!!

  • KIM

    He’s fug!

  • Seti

Water for elephants will be such a good movie. I’m so proud of Rob for landing such a good role.

  • Jess

Reese looks like his mom in that picture. She is incapable of creating sexual chemistry with any of her leading men so with those two strikes I think this looks like another bomb. Sorry to say.

  • CeCe

Two blonds and an elephant, how romantic.

  • CeCe

Reese is a well respected actress. Rob is smoking hot right now. Christoph just won an Oscar last year for Inglorious Basterds. Another love story for Rob’s fans? Sounds like a win to me.

  • newyear

  • Angelina

You really think that if Reese Witherspoon couldn’t draw with Jack Nicholson and Paul Rudd she’ll be able to do it with Christoph Waltz and Rob Pattinson.

  • Pam

Oh, men and women don’t really go see movies with Blake Lively or Jessica Alba in them. Jessica Alba has proven to be box office poison over and over.

  • Tombot

I’m not saying she will draw by herself. But she will give credence to the movie. Rob will draw from his wide fans, and I think they cross over with Reese’s fans. The story will draw people in, the trailer will draw, the love story will draw, the book fans will draw, the reviews when it comes will draw/take away. Rob’s interviews and press will get people hyped to see him on screen again. He isn’t bad to look at and is a newer face to all the Brad Pitts and Tom Cruises of the world who are aging.

  • Fanny

The only reason why Jessica Alba is still being cast in movies is because she draws in the male demographics. If she performs with scantily clad attire, they will come. It’s definitely not because of her Oscar caliber acting skills.

  • maka

this book is impressive and I liked the trailer

  • Bes

That looks like another crappy movie. Skipping this one two.

  • claudia

    so cute elephants
    and I love rob

  • Kaz simply smashing !!!!!!!

    Cute robert !

  • ruthie

Firstly I loved the book. Find the casting of Robert Pattinson very good, as he looks like Jacob. With the exception of Jacob having reddish hair in the book. Reese has the Harlow-look down pat, just like other young women of that era. They combined two characters to create Christophs role. He should do very well with August. Personally I can’t wait for this film. Circus life has not been done really well in awhile. And the ending might be really spectacular.

  • Edivar

Water for elephants hits theaters on April 22, 2011!

On April 15, 2011 will be Scream 4!

@JC If they didn’t they would have kept it opening on April 15 against Scream 4. They knew they weren’t going to win the weekend so they pushed the release a week. [2]

  • Callie

I think you all can wait till Rob has more than one line in the trailer to start making your complaints about how bad of an actor he is. Frankly, I think he gets bad reviews because people don’t like Twilight, have you even bothered to watch some of his other movies? We’ve had one trailer, where very little dialogue has been said, give it more time before you can the movie.

  • @49

We aren’t basing our appraisals of his acting abilities (or lack thereof) on the trailer alone.
I, for one, have seen him in his other roles, and found him completely lacking in talent and/or charisma.
    He bores me to death.
    He earns his bad reviews.
I liked the book, but will not waste my money on this waste of space.
