In the preface to the fifth edition of The Mask of Sanity, Cleckly stated, “… revisions of the nomenclature have been made by the American Psychiatric Association. The classification of psychopathic personality was changed to that of sociopathic personality in 1958″, suggesting that he did not recognise any difference between the conditions.
David T. Lykken proposes psychopathy and sociopathy are two distinct kinds of antisocial personality disorder. He believes psychopaths are born with temperamental differences such as impulsivity, cortical underarousal, and fearlessness that lead them to risk-seeking behavior and an inability to internalize social norms. On the other hand, he claims sociopaths have relatively normal temperaments; their personality disorder being more an effect of negative sociological factors like parental neglect, delinquent peers, poverty, and extremely low or extremely high intelligence. Both personality disorders are the result of an interaction between genetic predispositions and environmental factors, but psychopathy leans towards the hereditary whereas sociopathy tends towards the environmental.

I’ve always heard that the biggest sign that someone is a sociopath is the lack of remorse or guilt. But I never felt that Gerry was like that. He may be selfish and up himself, but saying he’s a sociopath is taking it too far!

And who gets all dressed up to run out and get a cup of coffee. My shirts have sayings on them too, most are for just around the house but when you got to run out for something – oh well. Just proves these pap’s are all over looking to see how can we get some photo’s (good or bad) but this is one guy they love to hate and catch him in a bad light all the time. He’s living his life the way he wants and it’s not hurting anyone, leave him alone. He gives us what we want, his recognition when we see him and entertainment. If he is such a “man *****” where are the stories? Not one woman has ever stepped forward to say anything against him.
GB may have issues, but don’t we all, however, he also has to have a lot of his sh#t together to have made to the top of the heap in HW. I have to give him credit for that. I just wish he would change his image from whoring around disease carrier to an award winning actor. So first find a great script outside of the HW bullsh#t that is going around and look for a new or different story to tell and then act your As$ off. There are lots of great indie films being made so get out of the HW treadmill and take a risk.
