Evangeline Lilly Joins 'The Hobbit'

Evangeline Lilly has officially joined the cast of Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit, Deadline reports.

The 31-year-old Lost actress and new mama will be playing a woodland elf named Tauriel.

Peter wrote on his Facebook page, “Evangeline Lilly will be playing a new character…Her name means ‘daughter of Mirkwood’ and, beyond that, we must leave you guessing!”

“What is not a secret is how talented and compelling an actress Evangeline is; we are thrilled and excited she will be the one to bring our first true Sylvan Elf to life,” he added.

Peter also made note that there would not be a romantic connection between Evangeline‘s character and Legolas, the character made famous by Orlando Bloom.

The Hobbit is set to be released in 2012.

Hmmmmm… I would love to see Evangeline in Star Trek sequel… a love interest for Captain Kirk, perhaps … but it seems that Peter Jackson was faster than JJ Abrams… anyway I ‘m going to see The Hobbit, too….

I wanted to say everyone is faster than Abrams. But then again, “The Hobbit took even longer to go into production than the next Star Trek Movie.

Evangeline is gorgeous & talented.. it’s good to see Hollywood didn’t “Lost” her… she is coming back with the bang, first in “Real Steel” with Huge Jackman (which looks terrific) & now in “The Hobbit” series . Wowww .
It’s like a dream come true. :) ) I’m so thrilled & happy that Peter Jackson noticed her talent and cast her right away after her Baby’s birth. :)

She’s not a good actress. Her “acting” was the worst part of LOST.
