Alexander Skarsgard: 'Melancholia' NYC Premiere!

Alexander Skarsgard and Kirsten Dunst attend the premiere of Melancholia on Monday (October 3) at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in NYC.

The 29-year-old actress wore a Chloe dress and Sonia Rykiel shoes for the event, which was held during the 49th annual New York Film Festival, while Alex suited up in YSL.

Guests, who also included Alex and Kirsten‘s co-star Charlotte Gainsbourg, were seen sipping Apothic Red wine.

The cast then headed over to the DeLeon Tequila-sponsored after party held at the Stone Rose Lounge, where Alex chatted up 30 Rock‘s Jack McBrayer. (They hung out backstage when Alec Baldwin hosted the Saturday Night Live season premiere on September 24.)

Alex does look happier than Kiki and Charlotte.

@Iko: Box Office didn’t stop tracking it, it’s on this weekend’s list.

Canuck, it does look like the rinse isn’t completely washing out. Could also be the lighting. I think that he looks tired, not stressed.

@ladybug:

It wasn’t there Monday morning or else I would have given the $10M figure. This is the now defunct link I read off another forum which did not have it listed.

Btw, why aren’t they showing its rank?

@ladybug: Could be tired too. None of them seem to have smiling eyes though. Possibly they were being asked questions about LVT’s comments again?

KIrsten & Alexander are so cute. I’m so excited to see melancholia in 4 days :)

Buttercup @ 10/04/2011 at 8:04 am

ew, Alex looks like a corpse here

Buttercup @ 10/04/2011 at 8:06 am

btw Charlotte is stunning!

@Iko: Looks like they stop ranking after #15 (apparently they want us to count or something!)
Kenneth the Page looks happy to see him:

He looks very handsome, but he does look tired, poor thing. I hope he gets to relax at some point, but it doesn’t seem likely. That suit looks great btw! Now I know what the YSL fitting was for.

sweetness @ 10/04/2011 at 9:46 am

he’s sooo YUMMY!

He looks great in that suit, but the colour of the shirt is washing him out a bit. I think that’s why he looks a bit more tired here, just the shirt washing him out.

Also, I think it’s mostly the lighting that is making his hair darker, because there are some pics where it’s more blonde.

@Camille: Yeah, the shirt isn’t doing much for him. He should probably stay away from the tan/sand/beige tones.

@Camille:

ITA. The shirt is awful colour and it makes him look pale as a vampire ha ha ha and that shade of grey is too light for him. It should be dark gray or blue gray. And poor thing looks definetly tired. I would like to hug him.
Melancholia was indeed amazing. Hard to forget. I saw it like month ago and still thinking of it. Alex was only in the first half of film but he was great, so gentle and kind man and totally different from Eric of True Blood or Charie of Straw Dogs. You gotta love him. Also Kirstin made her best performance of her career so far. She was phenomenal and really believable as was all the other actors too.

Funny thing :D @ 10/04/2011 at 12:53 pm

Anyone noticed the lack of negative comments of the certain haters on this thread? Obviously they are too busy voting Stephen Moyer and Joe Manganiello at Scream Awards! Don’t forget to vote for Alex as the best horror actor 2011!

@That’s me:
Well, I don’t think it’s grey because he actually usually looks good in grey. It’s more of a sandy beige colour to me. Which totally washes his skin tone out. It’s funny, it’s almost the exact same colour as his hair. LOL! I want to see Melancholia, but they won’t bring it here. I’d have to drive to the next city to see it.

@ladybug:
I agree, it’s just too much blonde/beige. It’s monotone. I don’t think it looks good unless you have a tan if you’re blonde.

I kind of like the tan shirt with the suit, nice change, a little different. Agree his hair looks darker like it is keeping some of the Disconnect color?? I saw comments on another site from someone who was there that he looked more tan and the suit looked more teal in color in person. So maybe the flash changes the colors a bit? Anyway, IMO he looks great and I love it that the movie is getting favorable reviews. I think he is so proud of this one, he’ll be happy it is being well received.

@Funny thing :D: thanks for the reminder and link. Will go vote. Also — forgot to say how nice both the women look. Very different looks but like C’s fancy pants and K’s lovely classic dress.

@Camille: @ladybug: @That’s me: I’m glad it’s not just me who isn’t loving that shirt. The blue suit is fabulous, the brown shirt with it is not so happy.

@That’s me:
The film is indeed hard to forget; seeing even the crescent moon hanging in the sky freaked me out a little after seeing Melancholia. Bits of the film keep coming back to me, mainly how stunning Kirsten Dunst is; she has the most amazing skin, and also how the end of the world looked and sounded. I loved the colour palate too; all subdued and earth tones.
.
I’m half tempted to go back to the cinema to watch it again, no matter how good the home blu-ray surround sound is it’ll never match the big screen and the sound system that shook the floor of the cinema in the bits that mattered. Odd that this is the premiere when we’ve already got it in the UK – usually we’re months behind you!
.
Btw; I’m not a fan on the tan. Someone needs to remind Skars that green is his best colour. ;)

@Funny thing :D: Shhh… don’t mention them or they may come back.

@Debbie: I like him better in blue, matches and brings out his eyes, but then again green brings them out also.

I actually like the shirt, idk. I don’t think it looks so bad. I think the combination of the orange in the background and the shirt is what is making his hair look darker.

“he looks so good in a suit”
…works for every male celebrity, LOL

@Canuck: @Debbie:
I generally think blonde people shouldn’t wear beige tones, because it’s just too much beige. Skin, hair, outfit etc. He needs some colour to give him some pop.

Ugh, I’m trying to watch the crappy quality upload of SD on youtube and I just can’t. She ruins it for me. I just cringe everytime she opens her damn mouth. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to watch the movie because she annoys me so damn much.

As an aside; Melancholia is in the UK top 15 despite being a limited release and only shown from Sunday onwards; my mate in the north can’t find a cinema that shows it until the end of the month.
