This man is handsome. He will do everything to regain their image in the USA. Funny, that every photo of Tom next to a woman (premieres, red carpet, etc) he is always with his hand in his pocket. Must be shy. I’m looking forward to the 4th wife ….. Where are Yassine, Honestly Concerned, Annie, Just a comment ….. I am only here.

    Anne Says:

    @Sincerely concerned:

Look at the body language. He always seems tense and locked. Always look on the camera and enacts a smile. I think Tom is a good person, just confused and childish. Believe me, if he were Catholic, Jew or Muslim, would be the same thing. The abandonment of the father, traumatized. As you said in another post: inside a real man, there is a child wanting to play . “As a theme I used to work in college.
The child inside Tom if lost. Sad.

    David From Canada Says:

Someone should tell Tom Cruise that he is too short and pretty to play action heroes.

    Karen Says:

@cw: I rather worship and give money to the devil, than any religion that allows, promotes and covers-up SODOMY (rapping of little altar boys). How can people still give money to this church after ALL that’s been exposed and reported, except; IT’S GENERAL CULTURE THAT EVERYBODY KNOWS ABOUT AND ACCEPTS.

so cool! I love this new poster.

    Karen Says:

@Sincerely concerned: Think about this. When you take Communion, the same hands the Priest are using to give you the “Holy Sacrament” is the same hands they use to masturbate and ******** little altar boys. But of course your religion is better? How can anyone give money to a religion that allows, promotes and covers up SODOMY?

    Karen Says:

@CF98: Why would any man pay millions in child support for some one else’s *******? He does not use his kids for publicity. He see her away from PAPs for the childs protection. He’s not using her as a COMMODITY like her mother is. She’s just a little girl not for sale or promotions or to advertise stupid, ugly looking clothes. He’s protecting the childs innocense till she’s old enough to decide for herself if she wants to be a celebrity or not. She’s only 7 yrs old people, just a baby. FYI: Do you know what J-Depps kids, Jolie-Pitt (birth kids), A-Sandler, Ben Stiller kids and so many other Big celeb kids – looks like. NO! Thats b/c those smart celebs have protected their kids from PAPs. Good celebs protect their children, they don’t parade them and ***** them out to PAPs to get noticed.

The footage looked sweet, sort of like if Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket was crossed with Hero’s Duty from Wreck-It Ralph. (Cruise revealed that the other soldiers referred to Blunt’s character as a “Full Metal *****.”) The mech suits were insane, but it’s also clearly a character-driven story about this soldier’s bizarre and very emotional journey. Cruise admitted that alien invasions have become a genre movie trope, but that this film is basically focused on this man’s time-torn relationship with Blunt’s character and how it evolves. Overall, the film looked pretty intense and visceral.

Once I get over my bitterness of the title change from All You Need Is Kill to the tamer but more descriptive Edge of Tomorrow, I think it could be an incredibly entertaining sci-fi action film. It’s been described to me as “Groundhog Day meets Starship Troopers”, and the footage we saw definitely conveyed that. Also, mech suits make everything better. Just imagine how much better Terms of Endearment would have been with mech suits.

    [From] Audience Q&A:

Did Cruise draw on any of his earlier characters for this role.

    • “No, because with each character, I’m trying to figure out ‘What piece am I playing in this story?’” He adds that there are different kinds of comedy, so how does it fit within the parameters of this story? Stoff adds that everyday was really a surprise in terms of what Cruise did and found about the character.

    Closing thoughts:

After getting over my irritation with “very original” and “so unique” (something can’t be very original and so unique. Originality and uniqueness aren’t measured in degrees; they’re binary), I can understand why the panelists sparked to the material. What was more surprising was the multiple mentions of comedy in the picture, and we saw absolutely none of that in trailer. It’s good to know it’s there because I think that if it the jokes work, they can really help temper the action and drama for what looks like it could be a memorable sci-fi blockbuster.

Cruise described his character as a PR guy working to promote the military’s part in the war when he, through circumstances, ends up in battle, in an exosuit. His character begins as a coward, to which Liman praised his performance. Paxton said the film has a perverse humor, but also a lot of heart. His character, a drill sergeant, has the role of putting Cruise’s PR guy through grueling tests.

Cruise said first and foremost he’s a cinephile, wanting to be taken on a great journey, and McQuarrie’s script reflects that desire. The narrative structure for Cruise was fun, in that his character remembers each return back in time, while for Blunt’s character, each meeting with Cruise is new.

A fan praised Tom’s commitment to doing his own stunt work, to which Tom said he just wants to entertain the audience, and he’s motivated by what he thinks the audience would like to see.

Warner Bros. has released another poster for their upcoming sic-fi action film Edge of Tomorrow featuring Emily Blunt as the female lead, Rita Vrataski, opposite Tom Cruise.

Earlier today I had the opportunity to see the first trailer at Comic-Con, and this thing looks incredible! I was excited for the movie before, but after seeing the insane footage, I’m even more excited for it.

Tom Cruise made his first ever Comic-Con appearance for Edge of Tomorrow, his sci-fi action movie for Warner Bros. previously titled All You Need Is Kill.

Cruise had the crowd roaring from his first step and then kicked up the showmanship a notch when he belted out a few lines from I Want to Know What Love Is with moderator Chris Hardwick. Cruise played Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages and he mentioned that Hardwick played the part when the play was just a small stage production in L.A.

Cruise was gracious and humble during the appearance. “I just want to entertain you all,” he said. “It’s a dream of mine and an honor. Every day I think what I’d like to see or what you’d like to see.”

    Suri the meal ticket Says:

Why does Emily Blunt hold a vacuum in that poster?

  23. 23
    #LiveDieRepeat Says:

The trailer makes EDGE OF TOMORROW look like a gritty sci-fi film in the vein of DISTRICT 9 and ELYSIUM. Lots of dusty action and and mechanized body suits. The premise is hard to decipher, unfortunately. I had the luck to know what it was about beforehand, but if you didn’t know, it would look mystifying, I imagine. It’s a pretty far-out concept which also brings to mind SOURCE CODE. (To its credit, ALL YOU NEED IS KILL came out several years before SOURCE CODE.)

Here are the highlights from the panel:
    - Cruise seemed very happy to be there; he starting singing “I Want to Know What Love is” at the very beginning of the panel.
    - Interestingly, Cruise not playing a heroic type in this film, at least not at first. Cruise said he’s a guy who has had a very “easy war.” He’s a PR guy who is thrust into the war, and he’s scared and unsure. Liman said it was really cool to watch Cruise in a role like this, which is pretty much the opposite of what we’re used to seeing.

    - They hinted at a lot of comedic elements in the film, although none of that was shown in the trailer, which looked rather grim. Apparently it has a “perverse sense of humor.” Cruise is also apparently quite funny in it.

    Suri the meal ticket Says:

    @Karen:
C’mon. Suri is not Tom’s bio-kid, it’s buy one rent one deal.
He’s paying for the residual of the lease. Very bad deal. Now he’ll never rid of the association with the less than mediocre pimp mama of prop kid.
Tom stopped using that kid to promote or attract paps for he realizes, as a shrew business man, that it’s irrelevant and can easily backfire on himself. Rather focus on making BO successful movies.
The movie looks very cool, even though I don’t understand why Emily Blunt is holding a vacuum cleaner in the poster.

    #LiveDieRepeat Says:

Within seconds of appearing onstage, the actor joined panel moderator Chris Hardwick in song. You see, Hardwick had starred as the over-the-top rocker Stacee Jaxx in a small Los Angeles production of Rock of Ages several years back, and Tom Cruise had played the same role in the 2012 big-screen adaptation. Together, the pair sang several lines from the 80s power ballad “I Want to Know What Love Is,” which is featured in the musical.

As if he hadn’t already passed Comic-Con’s litmus test for spontaneity, Cruise proceeded to invite an audience member* onstage, bait him in an impromptu quote-off from Weird Science, and then appeal to his sci-fi-leaning audience by discussing the overabundance of alien movies these days.

(*The audience member was his Edge of Tomorrow co-star Bill Paxton, who had planted himself in the crowd—but still!)

And finally, as if he had not already proved to Comic-Con why he, Tom Cruise, is still one of the world’s foremost movie stars, he unloaded this earnest, heartfelt mission statement onto the audience.

“I just want to entertain you all,” he said. “It’s a dream of mine and honor. Every day I think what I’d like to see or what you’d like to see.”

. . . and then the fan boys swooned.
