She is great but has been too young for his previous works, and she is too young for this story! A struggling single mom of three?? She’s 23.

  • Sophia

two overrating artists! both attention whores

  • Melissa

Way too young. Amy Adams would be better if he wants to work with one of his favorites again.

  • pickles

David O Russell is obsessed with her. He’s smothering her. He needs to back away and let her explore and discover other directors. He is trying to monopolize her as if he controls her career. He doesn’t own her. I know she has done all right by him, getting an Oscar and all. But she’s young and she ought to have a chance to do different stuff. He even criticized the people doing the Hunger Games movies saying they were slave drivers and he is even worse.

  • Ew

She is hella overrated and needs to stop talking about eating and being fat and he’s a gross man after assaulting his niece and saying that crap about 12 yrs a slave. disgusting.

  • the kid

@Sophia: sounds a little hateful, I’d say. Jealousy and envy does that to one.

  • Quinn

LOVE Jen but she is WAY too young for this.

  • nessy

he’s a pretentious, arrogant, and overrated director. I think he’s trying to one up the hunger games and enslave her so he can try to get more awards just like he thought that overrated AH was gonna scoop all the awards this season cause he got award winning actors that he’s already worked with and that plan backfired. I know she doesn’t want to get him upset by denying his offer but if she knew any better and has as much of a spine as she shows in her interviews, she needs to explore other personalities when it comes to movie directing because that’s how she’ll grow moreso as an actress. Even East of Eden is going to be directed by THG director Gary Ross and Gary said that they’re gonna try to make that movie adaptation into 3 parts, cmon seriously? she needs to break away from familiarity in order to transcend which is the honest to god truth. David is using her up until she gets dry, I kinda feel bad even though she’s still getting millions out of it looool.

  • Kfc

    She’s very average looking.

  • Lizbit

@pickles: I sort of agree. I’d like to see her working with other directors like Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Spielberg, Zemeckis, Ridley Scott, Marshall, Ron Howard, Francis Ford Coppola… etc. Lawrence has already been tied down to two franchises, XMEN and HungerGames.

  • Living in a box

@Melissa: amy adams is busy with batman vs superman. both are talented but come on!!

  • tee

The only way anyone would like David O Russell is through Jennifer Lawrence. He’s counting on her public love being transferred onto his films. Which has worked so far.

She’s funny and all, but definitely overrated.

  • Melissa

    @Living in a box:

Well then another, I like JL just fine but there are tons of 30-something actresses who could portray a mother of 3 more believably. Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Rachel McAdams, Charlize Theron, Michelle Williams, Claire Danes, etc. I love Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman too but think even they look too young.

  • allison

At 33, Mangano found herself divorced, raising three children under the age of 7, in a small two-bedroom home.

33 lol. Okay I like Jl but I’m sick of them pushing her on the audience that she can play years older than her age. In AH she looked like a teenage prostitute pretending to be older.

  • mush

@Melissa: exactly, she will not be believable as a 23 year old single mom with 3 kids unless she was a sl** in high school/college, there are so many actresses that can do the role justice and actually have maternal skills from personal experience. O. Russell is the puppeteer towards jen’s career in order for both him and her to be always recognized by the academy so they are aware that they’re helping each other out so it can be a win/win for the both of them. she needs to break the mold cause as you can see with O. Russell, I couldn’t distinguish a true amount of versatility between Tiffany in SLP and Rosalyn in AH, the difference was a RHONJ accent and a hair dye job. other directors will expect much more from her to become and be truly immersed with different characters than having another day’s work with O. Russell, it must be a walk in the park for her to work with david. but the storyline itself seems like it could end up being a boring movie even though joy became a great success and i have respect for joy.

  • Meg

@CM: She may be 23, but she looks old enough to pass for up to 30 (if she keeps short hair). If Jennifer Lopez and Gabrielle Union can get by playing a 30-something then Jennifer Lawrence can get by playing a late 20-something. In fact, let’s not forget that Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence and Sarah Hyland are all the same age…Sarah looks 15, Kristen looks between 19-23 and Jennifer looks 24-28. Her actual age doesn’t mean anything if she doesn’t look her age and she can play the part. That being said, I’m just tired of this pairing. I’d like to see her work with other directors. I guess she’s becoming with David like Leo is with Scorsese. I have definitely seen women who look like Jennifer (age, face and all) be in their late 20s-early 30s with 3 kids. Rachel Bilson and JLaw look about the same age and Rachel is 32.

  • Meg

@Melissa: I agree with you…but like you said Scarlett is 29 and looks the same age as Jen…but they could both play the mother of 3 (depending on the kids) age…Natalie looks their age as well and Natalie is 32. These days there are older adults who looks like young adults and vise versa. Look at LORDE lol. She could play a mother of 3 who looks to be in her early 40s AND SHE’S 17. Seriously, if Jen can play the role..she can play the role. I mean Katniss is supposed to be like 14, right? Jen definitely does not look 14 lol.

  • Meg

Sorry for the multiple comments, but yeah..Jen looks older than 23 (to me) especially when compared to other 23 years I’ve seen and know, but at the same time I do agree that Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Amy Adams, etc. would all be better choices/suited for this part. I also don’t like Jen’s attempts at any type of NY accent.

  • Vaiva

    nope just NOPE

  • talia

@Meg: didn’t david recently say jennifer is worked to hard by Lionsgate for the Hunger games, yet here he is trying to get her to star in another one of his films.

  • msela

never change the winning team! go get bradley, too david!!

They gotta work together till the magic disappear !

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaajjjjjjjjjj

Her smile is SO FALSE! :/

  • nm

O Russell is getting on my nerves. It seems to me he makes movies for the sole purpose of winning awards. You should make movies because you have something to say!Get it together.

  • Joelle

Seriously? Does that mean we’re going to see her on the Home Shopping Network like Mangano?lol I did buy one of her products and it didn’t work. I’d like to know with all the stories to be told, why this one?

  • LaCroix

this pairing is beyond ridic already. IMO they really aren’t that great of film makers. but to each his own I guess.

  • LM

    Omg that’s great news!!! I’m excited, I really hope it’ll happen :)

  • Janey

LOL first she adds another three years to her Dior contract…..and now another movie ( a total of three) wih this guy…this girl needs to explore and discover other brands and directors….or she will always know for this

  • evs

I really hope she says no. He is great, but time to diversify

  • Meg

@talia: I don’t remember him saying that, but I’m not saying you’re wrong. Seems hypocritical of him. I’d rather see her work with a new director now.

  • susnam3

Jennifer can play any age. Jennifer must be tired, doing back to back films.

  • maria

Isn’t ANYone tired of her already? I know I am. I like her but do NOT want to see her in every movie out there. Ugh. Not to mention she is not believable as a mother of 3. Seriously. Jennifer, give us a break, please.

  • oh no

Hasn’t O’Russell freed JL yet? Isn’t she getting over-exposed? A twenty-three year old playing a 33 year old mother of 3? Surely there is a thirty-something or late twenties star that would love to play the part.
Actually this sounds like a made-for-TV movie not the big screen.

  • talia

@Meg: O’Russell is a hypocrite,he referred to the hunger games franchise as 12 years of slavery then later apologised for it.

  • Bebe

Two jews, of course they will flock together

  • Jussayin

She is a pretty good actress, but i think much of her success is because the hollywood machinery has her in full on PR mode, and her influential network is pumping her big time. It goes beyond her performances. Its like massive brainwashing.

  • anna

You people are so creepy. Jennifer keeps working with David Russell because she WANTS to keep working with him. She is the currently the biggest star in the world and doesn’t need your career advice.

  • Finny

She’s talented. But I’m starting to suspect there’s something going on between these two. No, not because they’re working together in movies one after one. But the whole thing is starting to make no sense. Every time she wins something there’s always better deserving nominees than her. Even this year her nomination wasn’t deserved. I always thought someone very high and influential in hollywood is fueling her crazy undeserving ride fire. And I have a hunch DOR is the one.
