Mindy Kaling Reveals She Was Up for Maya Rudolph's 'Bridesmaids' Role: 'It Was a Heartbreaker'

Mindy Kaling flashes a big smile after making an appearance on The Today Show to promote her show The Mindy Project on Monday morning (September 15) in New York City.

That same day, the 35-year-old star was spotted leaving her hotel in a cute patterned dress to make her way to Andy Cohen‘s show Watch What Happens Live.

During her appearance, Mindy revealed she missed out on a big role in Bridesmaids.

“No one ever calls me in to audition for things because I’m so specific. Actually, you know what it was – Bridesmaids, which I loved,” Mindy expressed (via US Weekly). “They called me in for Maya Rudolph‘s part, and I practiced it so much and I was so into it, and I love that whole cast. That one was a heartbreaker.”
