Ireland Baldwin Checks Into Rehab for Accumulated Stress, Not Substance Abuse

Ireland Baldwin voluntarily checked into rehab last week after experiencing a mental breakdown due to accumulated stress, contrary to recent reports that she entered for substance abuse.

JustJared.com can also confirm the 19-year-old model was admitted to the hospital last week for cervical cysts, which she assumed was appendicitis at first.

“The establishment that Ireland checked into is where a lot of people in her family have gone to get sober,” a source close to Ireland exclusively told JJ. “She’s known the people there for a long time and they’re like family to her. She needed a safe place to stay and get away for awhile and now she’s receiving the intensive therapy and treatment she needs.”

Ireland also recently went through a break-up with her longtime girlfriend, rapper Angel Haze.

“The split really hurt Ireland,” our source adds. “She’s been going through depression and anxiety but now using this time to heal through all the pain.”

Shortly after the rumors surfaced, Ireland joked on Twitter about the latest rumors; “Apparently I’m in rehab for intensive partying soooo I’m just going to lay pretty low for a bit and maybe get some frozen yogurt. I checked myself into [the SOBA Recovery Center] for two weeks to just get away for a little bit. I’m not much a party cat but I am here deal with some emotional trauma and getting the intensive therapy I needed in order to recover. Someday I’ll feel ready to share my story openly without feeling the way I do. Right now I just needed a breather. I needed a chance to work on myself and gather all the tools I need to overcome everything that I had been through and rid myself of all the pain I locked away in unreachable places.”
