Heather McDonald Says She Never Sold Chelsea Handler Stories to Tabloids

Heather McDonald is clearing up accusations that she sold stories about Chelsea Handler to the press after the comedian fired back at her claims.

The 45-year-old comedian says her original comments about living in fear while working on Chelsea Lately were taken out of context.

“I want to respond to my interview, where I said, ‘I lived in fear, a hundred percent, lived in fear,’” Heather said on her podcast (via ET). “This quote was taken out of context — I was asked if I was afraid of being let go from the show, and the tabloids took one sentence out of an hour-long podcast and ran it as a headline.”

“I have never betrayed Chelsea Handler,” she added. “I never sold stories to tabloids, or traded them to benefit myself and get myself in them. This is completely untrue and has never happened.”

“Chelsea herself said she didn’t even listen to the whole interview,” Heather continued. “And I feel badly if she or anyone else misunderstood me, as I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked for her.”
