'Mean Joe Greene' & the Coca-Cola Kid Reunite 36 Years Later

The stars of the 1979 “Hey Kid, Catch!” Coca-Cola Super Bowl commercial have finally reunited nearly 40 years after the ad first aired.

Former professional football player Joe Greene and actor Tommy Okon, who was just nine-years-old at the time of filming, were reunited for CBS’s upcoming Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials.

In the commercial, Tommy offers rough and tough Joe a Coke, which softens the football player up.

Joe credits Tommy‘s adorable personality to the ad’s success but Tommy says it’s because the commercial “tells a story” and embodies Joe, a “tough football player who’s a nice guy.”
