Oscars 2016 to Introduce Thank You Scroll During Speeches

Something new will be added to the audience experience at the 2016 Academy Awards… a thank you scroll will be placed at the bottom of the screen so winners don’t have to recite names during their speeches.

Instead of having winners read off names from a piece of paper, they will be encouraged by the Academy to submit a list of names they want to scroll across the screen.

“Acceptance speeches have become a list of names and more often than not, time ran out before something could be spoken from the heart about the art, about the vision, about the experience, about the meaning of the moment,” Oscars producer David Hill said in a statement (via THR). “We needed to rethink how this could be a better experience for everyone.”
