Josh Duggar Leaves Rehab, Family Releases New Statement

Josh Duggar has left his faith-based rehab facility after spending six-months there for pornography addiction and cheating on his wife Anna.

Josh has completed his residential rehabilitation program. We are so thankful for everyone who worked with Josh in this program. It was a crucial first step in recovery and healing for Josh. Josh has now returned to Arkansas, where he will continue professional counseling and focus on rebuilding relationships with his family. We look to God for help and guidance and place all of our trust in Him. We are forever grateful for the love and prayers offered by so many and hope you will continue to pray in the days ahead,” a statement read (via Us Weekly).

Josh admitted to cheating on his wife last year after his name was linked to Ashley Madison. They have four kids together: Marcus, Meredith, Michael, and Mackynzie.

I think “pornography addiction” is used way too often to excuse plain ole’ immoral and amoral behavior. He was raised to disregard women, and he was apparently never taught the basics of respect for other humans. I’m disgusted that his family keeps trying to pretend that his only fault is looking at pornography.

Continue professional therapy? If it is the same therapy he received at the cult rehab, it’s a waste of time. He NEVER received professional therapy.

they play up the ‘porn addiction’ and infidelity but he confessed to molesting 5 underage girls and was not charged. He ‘ducked’ into a rehab facility to avoid going to prison and being added to the national sex offenders registry. Or did I miss something?

Just what the world needs, another pervert loose on the streets again.

Unfortunately the statue of limitations in Arkansas has expired for him to be prosecuted for the molestation. The Duggars seem to be playing up his latest indiscretions to make people forget what he did to his sisters and the babysitter.

His molesting 5 underage girls is reprehensible–that I agree with. Everyone wants to criticize the Duggars for not charging him with molestation. Josh himself was a minor at the time and charging their son would have resulted in their son having to register as a sex offender for possibly the rest of his life; a stigma that would limit his ability to get a job and where he could purchase a home. Michelle and Jim Bob made the decision to try and handle this privately–remember two of the victims were their daughters. Perhaps in trying to keep this matter private they were also trying to spare their daughters any embarrassment or shame. They also trusted their son to not repeat this act when he told them it would never happen again–a decision I’m sure they regret. Let’s face it, if your son molested a family member and you found out about it would you try and turn your son in the way the Duggars did? Would you go running to the newspapers and television networks and tell everyone, “Hey my kid is a pervert!” No, you’d try and keep it quiet. I watched their show from the beginning and contrary to what certain celebrities on certain shows have implied, the Duggars never claimed they were perfect. I myself don’t practice any religion but I do believe that as parents they made a mistake by not making the decision to put Josh in residential therapy right away. That doesn’t mean they should suffer. If you punished every parent who made a bad decision when it came to parenting, every parent would be in jail. I think the media and everyone needs to give Jim Bob and Michelle a break–just like the mom who accidentally left her infant in the car and the baby died. She went on Oprah to express her regret and remorse for being a mom who was so busy, she left her son in a hot car to die. The public forgave this woman so how about a little compassion for a couple of parents who made a poor decision when it came to protecting their daughters or throwing their sun under the bus.
