Ellen DeGeneres Responds to Controversial Usain Bolt Meme

Ellen DeGeneres has sent out a tweet about the Usain Bolt meme she posted earlier in the week, which has been called out for being insensitive and racist.

The 58-year-old comedian posted a photo of the 29-year-old champion runner sprinting at the Olympics, and she inserted herself holding onto his back. The caption read, “This is how Iā€™m running errands from now on. #Rio2016.” You can see the photo here on her Twitter account.

“I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country. It is the furthest thing from who I am,” Ellen tweeted in response later.

Usain has so far won three gold medals total at the Olympics, and one so far in Rio.

omg why is even race involved in this? she clearly meant it as a compliment, because he is unbelievably fast and great at what he does. we are all humans, why are you always focusing on race?

There is one simple solution for many problems: Take all blacks and send them back to Africa.

The U.S. without white people = cesspool like any black country in Africa
The U.S. without black people = a better place with low crime rates and without racism

    Hillary 2016!

everything is race related nowadays.. comedians can’t even make jokes about anything w/out having fingers pointed at them.. but yet its been ok since forever for black comedians to have their entire stand-up routines on making fun of white people & their “whiteness” STFU already!

It’s disgusting how overly-sensitive and easily offended people are becoming. What the H is wrong with people?

The true racist moment is when you see a Black man, instead of a fast runner. Ellen sees him as an Athlete. It is as simple as that. If you can’t understand the humor here then you are a part of the divisiveness we have in this country. You probably see our President as a Black President too.. . no, he’s just our President and this man, Usain Bolt, is simply an Athlete. Ellen is a comedian, she isn’t a “White” comedian. We spend way too much time dividing ourselves when we should be uniting ourselves.

America, what’s wrong with you?! You call Ellen a racist but you want a president, that calls Obama the founder of ISIS??? Seriously, what’s wrong with you people?!?!

  • Esoteric11

Usain Bolt liked it and retweeted it. Negative people will make it so. It is really about them and their view of things.
