I wonder if she can even locate Japan on a map. I mean, this girl mistakenly thought Zayn was Middle Eastern so clearly geography is not her strong suit.

  • MyLeftNut

I don’t know anything about 1 Direction so please correct me if I am wrong but is his family not ethnically from that region? I know he is a born and bred Brit but I always though he was of Pakistani or Lebanese heritage or something similar.

He is half Pakistani. Pakistan is in Asia not the Middle East.

While it’s true that Pakistan is not in the Middle East. You make fun of Gigi for not knowing geography but you do realize that the Middle East is also technically in Asia right? That is why you will see Middle Eastern countries participating in Asian Games. Check the U.N. or any Encyclopedia if you need more information.

The Middle East & Pakistan are not interchangeable. People’s ethnicities aren’t interchangeable. Not all brown people are from the same places. Pakistan may be close to the Middle East, but it’s still not in the Middle East. Gigi didn’t call a Middle Eastern guy Asian, she called an (half) Asian guy Middle Eastern, those are technically two very different things. Zayn’s last idiotic girlfriend called him Indian, are you gonna make a excuses for that too? I don’t need an Encyclopedia to know that Gigi could have at least done her homework on Zayn before she entered into this PR relationship with him. Gigi is supposedly a woman of color, but she grew up with the same privilege as any other blond-haired, blue-eyed rich girl. Perhaps his next PR girlfriend should be more cultured and more ethnically aware (and maybe just visibly ethnic, period).

  • MyLeftNut

No one said that Pakistan and Middle East are interchangeable. You keep emphasizing that Pakistan is in Asia as if the Middle East wasn’t. My very point was that an Middle Eastern guy is an Asian guy. Doesn’t matter, I’m more interested in this:

“Perhaps his next PR girlfriend should be more cultured and more ethnically aware (and maybe just visibly ethnic, period).”

Why? Why does his girlfriend have to be “ethnic” at all? I get a very strong feeling that you consider yourself “visibly ethnic.” You sound very personally offended that he choose a woman who isn’t (by your standards). Did I miss a rule that ethnic people (what a horrible term) should only date ethnic people?

“Gigi is supposedly a woman of color, but she grew up with the same privilege as any other blond-haired, blue-eyed rich girl.”

Also, this isn’t helping you sound any less bitter. Does her privileged upbringing strip her of her ethnicity. What makes her a “supposed” woman of color? Wasn’t aware that suffering and hardship was a requirement to being being considered fully or “visibly” ethnic.

I don’t care if a Middle Eastern guy is an Asian guy, it doesn’t mean that an Asian guy is a Middle Eastern guy, like I said, two VERY different things if you stop to think about it.

I said what I said about his next PR girlfriend, because by in large, people of the same ilk understand each other better because they have similar experiences. Oppressed people understand oppressed people. This is twice now that his girlfriends didn’t have a damn clue about who Zayn is or what he is. Zayn is a humble guy from humble beginnings whose roots are very important to him, he talks about being a proud Asian all the time. It’s a shame that his “girlfriends” are clueless in that regard. It’s embarrassing. If I’m offended, it’s on Zayn’s behalf, not my own.

  • Gina

You know damn well people of color are treated differently, especially those who are visibly ethnic & not white-passing like Gigi. Please don’t piss in my eye & tell me it’s raining. Society treats her like a white girl because she looks like one, even though she may not be. There are certain privileges that come with her looking white & you know it.

  • MyLeftNut

Zayne has more in common with Gigi than he has with any “oppressed” ethnic girl off the street. He spent his formative years as a very rich young man. His life experiences are in no way similar to the average “oppressed person.” He was a star in a very popular boy band when he was very young. His identity does not begin and end with his ethnicity or skin color. Him being a proud Asian is in no way negated by the fact that he chooses to date women who aren’t, by your perception. Their “ilk” is rich people. Doesn’t matter if he started off from humble beginnings, from everything I’ve ever read about him he sure isn’t anymore.

You are basically saying “let’s stick to our own kind.” Funny how that would be viewed if a white person said that. Hilarious. Like I said, you sound very bitter. As if he some how betrayed his heritage–and by proxy you–by deciding to choose a “PR girlfriend” that enjoyed the privileged life a “blond-haired, blue-eyed rich girl.”

  • MyLeftNut

White-passing? Seriously, how bitter are you about this? I guess he better darken up his next girlfriend good and well before he debuts her to the public. White privilege is absolutely a thing that exists. Gigi is a product of nepotism. Her “passing for white” isn’t what gets her treated the way she is, it’s her father’s money. You know, this exclusionary thinking, doesn’t help the struggle in any way. When you appear this bitter some people will automatically dismiss whatever valid points you might have made.

  • Gina

White-passing is an actual term, honey look it up. Gigi is the epitome of this. While Gigi does benefit from nepotism, do you mean to tell me that she would be half as successful in the modelling world if she weren’t passing for white? Gimme a damn break. Her privilege AND her being the product of nepotism has helped her immensely. This “exclusionary thinking” you speak of stems from & is perpetuated by society at large; I’m just speaking to that fact & calling it out for what it is.

  • Gina

Oh, please. Zayn has spent a larger chunk of his life poor than he has rich. Don’t get it twisted, honey. I’m not saying he needs to stick to his own kind per se, but the “kind” he’s been with for the last few years have proven to be cultural insensitive and problematic. I’m sure there are many white girls who have more in common with Zayn than the last two he’s been with. I never said “his own kind” couldn’t be white but I’m saying a woman of color might be a viable and compatible option & a nice change for him, especially PR wise. You seem to be ignoring the PR aspect of this, PR is all about image & keeping up appearances. Zayn wants to be accepted in the world of R&B music, and in that regard, a girl of color makes sense for him (especially image-wise since much of his fans are people of color). The music industry is a business, it’s not all about being politically correct. So you can save the righteous indignation for someone who cares.

  • MyLeftNut

I know what white-passing is (lol, I was calling out your incorrect use of it) and no, Gigi is not doing this. Don’t be that angry bitter WOC that you are coming across as in your replies. You are not calling attention to anything but your own prejudices. You clearly feel betrayed that he didn’t pick someone who looks like you obviously do but you need to get that bitterness and anger in check. Seriously, there are great forums where you can actually talk through your anger and bitterness with well educated, like minded people. Might help give you a better balanced view.

  • xyz

Gigi woman a color? What did u smoke? Her mother is Dutch and white, her dad is Palestinian and white. What “color” are u blabbing about? If u have a problem with some imaginary white privilege, go live in Africa, dear, end of story.

  • xyz

Society treats her as she really is. Stop whining.

  • xyz

Nepotism yes, white privilege is only in ur cretin head.

  • MyLeftNut

Lol. That’s exactly what you are saying. You’re the one with all the burning righteous indignation on behalf of these imaginary WOC that would be better suited for him. Seriously, do you even realize how you come across? You don’t seem to. Keep being bitter I guess. It’s hard for some people to see their own prejudices.

  • MyLeftNut

What? I didn’t say she was white-passing. Are you looking at who you are replying to?

  • MyLeftNut

What? I didn’t say she was white-passing. Are you looking at who you are replying to?

  • Gina

I don’t give a damn how I come across. A WOC would be a nice change given that he’s run into the same ignorance with the last two chicks. There’s nothing wrong with having a bit of diversity.

  • Gina

What she really is is a girl who passes for white.

  • MyLeftNut

Maybe you should be more worried about your life instead of the life of some guy you will never be friends with. Who are you, his moral compass? Live your life, girl. He’s not yours to control just because you feel like he’s “one of you.”

  • Gina

Listen honey, I used the term “supposedly” for a reason. Gigi fans love to proclaim ad nauseam that she’s a woman of color. I on the other hand beg to differ, I consider her white and her father to be a white Palestinian. But in efforts to avoid the righteous indignation of her fans, I mentioned her supposedly being a woman of color.

PS white privilege isn’t imaginary and white privilege & colorism exists in Africa too, you obtuse racist.

  • Gina

The comment section exists for a reason & I intend to use it at whim whether you like it or not. Take your own advice, honey. Live your life instead of defending some chick who doesn’t know you exist. I’m not trying to control anyone, I’m merely giving my opinion. But you sure as hell are trying to control me. It ain’t gonna happen, sweetie.

  • Gina

LMAO, you’re hilarious…and by hilarious I actually mean pathetic. Gigi is white-passing whether your in denial butt wants to admit it or not.

P.S Zayn didn’t “pick” Gigi, his PR team did.

  • MyLeftNut

Defending her? I didn’t even know she was half Palestinian, I thought she was half Israeli. I couldn’t give two shits about Gigi or Zayn, to be honest, though you seem very invested in who he dates. Will it make you feel better if he dates a girl that looks like you? Is that what this is?

I was just calling out your bullshit. Lol. You seem really triggered. You keep using “honey” and “sweetie” but you really seem defensive. Like I said, live the bitter life if you want, I was just holding up a mirror.

  • Gina

Ha! You thought she was half Israeli instead of half Palestinian. You seem as ignorant as she is. It’s all starting to make sense.

  • MyLeftNut

Yes. I did. I don’t follow the lives of celebrities like you do. Ignorant because I didn’t automatically make an assumption about her heritage based on her physical appearance? I thought she was Israeli because someone called her dad Israeli in the comment section and that’s as much research as I need to make about her. I wasn’t defending her so I couldn’t care any less what she is, I was calling you out on your ridiculous statements. She could be half black and it wouldn’t change anything I said. You are angry and bitter and very prejudice. You’re just as bad as xyz except you hide behind this cloak of ethnic morality.

You honestly seem to be really bitter about being “visibly ethnic” because people like Zayn don’t publically date people like you.

  • MyLeftNut

You are the pathetic one. You give all WOC a bad name. I’m so glad none of my sisters are as bitter and angry as you are. You are the epitome of the angry WOC. I didn’t realize you were on his PR team. Bravo then, good job ’cause you obviously got people talking about their non-relationship online. Good job, you. The more you keep using the term white-passing the more uneducated you seem.

  • Gina

Ha! Now you’re just floundering. Strike a nerve, did I? I don’t need to be on his PR team to see the sh*t show his actual team has created.

  • MyLeftNut

Lol. I know you said you don’t care how you come across but are you serious? Honestly, you write too well to be this stupid. Okay, bye Felicia. Keep being bitter.

  • Gina

Oh, please. Excuses, excuses. “Bitter” seems to be your go-to word, but honey, the truth always tastes bitter going down. I’m a social commentator , I don’t want Zayn. Being a fan, it’s hard to watch the train wreck that is his PR team.

  • MyLeftNut

Bitter is as bitter does. When the shoe fits right?

    “I’m a social commentator”

    No, you are not.

    “Being a fan”

Lol. That explains why you feel entitled to him.

Well, you kept my morning interesting. Believe it or not it was really fun. Wish we could have had a proper debate.

  • Gina

Leaving so soon? LMAO. Typical behavior of someone losing an argument. Don’t ever try to tell me who I am, honey. I know who I am.

  • Gina

Have several seats, but make sure you get your head outta your ass before ya do. K, BYE!
