Mahershala Ali Confirmed to Star in 'True Detective' Season 3

It’s official – Mahershala Ali is heading to True Detective!

The 43-year-old Oscar-winning actor has signed on to star in the upcoming season three of the hit HBO series after weeks of speculation.

During the TCA summer press tour on Wednesday (July 26), showrunner Nic Pizzolatto reportedly announced that he is hard work writing scripts for the upcoming season.

“I have read five scripts for a third season,” HBO programming president Casey Bloys told reporters, according to the NY Daily News. “And I think they’re terrific.”

Mahershala‘s starring role will follow a long line of A-listers who have joined the cast, including Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Colin Farrell, and Rachel McAdams.
