Sharon Tate's Sister Slams Hilary Duff's New Movie About Her Murder

Sharon Tate‘s sister Debra Tate is not happy with the new movie about the final days of her sisters life.

The film is titled The Haunting of Sharon Tate and stars Hilary Duff in the title role.

If you don’t know the story, Sharon was 26-years-old and just about nine months pregnant with her first child with husband Roman Polanski when she was brutally stabbed to death in her home by members of Charles Manson‘s cult back in 1969.

Debra told People that it’s “classless” and “exploitative.”

“It doesn’t matter who it is acting in it – it’s just tasteless,” she continued. “It’s classless how everyone is rushing to release something for the 50th anniversary of this horrific event.”

There are also reports that Sharon had a premonition that the murders would happen, which could be the premise of Hilary‘s new movie. Debra responded to this.

“I know for a fact she did not have a premonition — awake or in a dream…I checked with all of her living friends. None of her friends had any knowledge of this. Tacky, tacky, tacky,” Debra continued. “It’s a total fabrication.”

ok, normally, I would NOT be interested in this but I DO like Hillary Duff for the part……which means that I will be watching…..I don’t like that the premonition seems to be fabricated. They need to stick to the FACTS.

No disrespect to Debra but how can she judge something that’s not even released yet? Didn’t they just finish filming or are still filming? How can she know if it’s classless or exploitative? Did she mean just the idea of doing a movie about the murder was those things? Don’t get me wrong. I can understand her not liking the idea of a movie being made of a very traumatizing event that happened to someone in her family. I just don’t understand what she means by saying the movie is classless and exploitative unless again she just means the idea of doing a movie about the murder is classless and exploitative.

Oh cmon! This isn’t the first movie about a murder. Why is everyone bashing this? What about the many other movies based on real stories? Get over it.

  • MyName

That would be a documentary instead of a movie. Films often use ‘dramatic license’.

I remember an article the sister did awhile back complaining about a possible actress up for the role. I remember her then only complaining that actress, not HD, wasn’t “pretty enough”.

What happened was a horrific tragedy and the family, of course, would still feel personally about everything involving it. However, the sister seems okay with a project one minute and then against it the next. She may enjoy the interviews even though hoping there was never a need to have them. I hope she has built a life all of her own for herself throughout the years which would be healthy.
