Pink's Husband Carey Hart Responds to Backlash After Letting Daughter Shoot a Rifle

Carey Hart is standing up for his parenting choices.

The 43-year-old former professional freestyle motocross competitor shared a video of daughter Willow, 7, shooting a rifle – and he’s proud of it.

“Haven’t poked the parent police bear in a few days. Willz and I shooting the 22 rifle,” Carey writes. “She is getting pretty good. Can hit a 12 inch pie plate from 30 yards. Started her shooting at 3yrs old. For the record non of us hunt, just enjoy shooting for sport. I’m raising the kids with knowledge of fire arms, how to handle them, shoot them, store them, and avoid them in uneducated hands. #knowledgeispower”

After he posted the video, Carey got slammed for letting his daughter – who he shares with Pink – shoot the rifle while also slamming him for supporting guns.

“This is why America is the most f–ked up country in the world,” one critic wrote. “Tears and pain of shootings but hey … I’ll teach my kids to shoot. #f–kedup”

Carey then responded to the comments writing, “In America firearms are legal and not going away. So I choose to embrace it. Take the taboo out. Educate them so they don’t become a statistic. Many forms of shooting are an OLYMPIC SPORT.”

I’m sorry but if you can’t drive until 16, vote/ smoke/join the army/gamble until 18, drink until 21 and rent a car until 25 then maybe shooting a gun at GODDAMN 7 YEARS OLD shouldn’t be allowed.  But that’s just my opinion.

I think it’s smart in a way to teach your kids these things especially in this f–ked up world. I mean I think guns should just go extinct anyway but since they’re not, I think it’s best to teach your kids what Carey is teaching their’s. You shouldn’t have to pretend gun violence doesn’t exist around your kids cause they might grow up not knowing what to do if God forbid, they get threatened with a gun to their head. I mean you don’t need to say “hey son/daughter, one day you might get shot and die from gun fire but I’m gonna teach you how to use one so you might live.” Just teach them with a simple bb gun. My brother wasn’t that much older than Willow when he tried his hand in shooting a BB gun. Actually, he might’ve been younger. As long as the parent is there to help them and making sure they don’t get hurt, I think it shouldn’t be a big deal and if anything, it should motivate parents to teach their kids about gun safety instead of pretending we live in this happy and safe world.

I’m a fire arms instructor and my kids started early as well. It teaches them that fire arms are fun but seriously damgerous. It teaches them respect, dedication, and keeps them focused on a task.
Now you still need to be by them to aid them and be there as a safety person. I would rather have this girl shoot in a controlled environment then in the hood shooting up a house. This is responsible parenting.

This the difference of sheep and sheepdogs. That little girl won’t be a victim!
